  1. Hi, Its interesting to see what you can render using 3dc alone. Did you sculpt all the figure or import it an then work on it. Ian
  2. Ah the stuff nightmares are made from. Do the little horn things extend ?.
  3. Thanks for the thoughts. I decided to re-retopologise and it ended up looking much like the first attempt. I was going to animate it but have since decided to move on to another idea. Its been a really useful experience to try and use all the features in 3D coat, hopfully I can plan my next model with some better understanding of the workflow. I can see allsorts wrong with the actual design but not to worry. Thanks Ian re-retopology sundragon render
  4. Clever, thanks for sharing your workflow it's really useful. The model is excellent and looks to be well thought out.
  5. Hi, More tentacles please, they make it more alien.
  6. Hi, This is the Sun Dragon, I was going to call it "Alien 1" but after I pressed the gold texture I decided on a new name. Im really trying to work through all the features on 3D Coat to see what it can do. I seem to be only scratching the surface at the moment but the ability to add primatives and subtract them from one another on different layers has proved really helpful for creating the eye and eyelids. My attemt at retopology is awful, I think you're supposed to stick to quads and avoid triangles and polygons. Still I expect I will find out how important this is soon. Thanks Ian
  7. Hi, I intially wanted something that I could sculpt good quality terrains,Vue has a new terrain editor which has many strong points but it just doesn't seem as intuitive as 3D Coat. I can create create a detailed mesh in XSI or Blender and then add texture in 3d coat. Thinking I might try doing one of those alien heads next and make full use of the software. I'm not sure if seven layers is enough but if you create a couple for texture, a few for colour and maybe one for specularity I think that is enough. I'm sure people with more experience in texturing will have other ideas. Also if you are on a tight budget it's worth saving your money for other software or good tutorials if you can find them until you are sure you know what you need. Just wondering what other software do you plan to use.
  8. Hi, I'm using the accademic version at the moment and it seems enough for my needs, I expect to buy the full version when I need it. Consider what other software you might like to use with 3d coat e,g vue esprit, houdini, softimage modtool etc.
  9. I some trouble getting the obj export to work becuase the voxel became so large.
  10. Very nice, I get the feeling that christmas has come early with the gold and deep blue. Also I like to see work that is abstract and taking advantage of the sculptural possiblities enabled by software. Especially voxels
  11. Hi Thanks for your comments Here i s alink to the animation. I will try and make the 2 dimensional pictures into a voxel logo and see how it works out Link to animation on Vimeo
  12. Just a part of an idea that I'm working on. It's renedered and animated as a fly by in Vue Esprit. Here is the picture that I'm trying to develop into 3d, I created it years ago and always wanted to work with it a solid form. The voxel sculpture still needs more work. The idea of The Descendant is still a WIP in itself. It's random thoughts in space, descent into a void and a vision of what we may become. ??
