  1. Hm, this does seem to work, although 'export object' gives me incorrect results, I have to ue 'bake texture' or the DIsplacement is all messed up. Unfortunately, this method doesn't seem to respect the 'use name correspondences for baking' option that is available in the retopo room, and so some of my objects have their maps messed up where they are close to another pieces of the mesh ( Imagine belt loops or straps on a jacket )
  2. You can see my previous post at this link: http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=15138&p=99886 Essentially, I have created some geometry in Z-brush and brought it into 3dCoat for retopology. The mesh has been loaded into the voxel room as an 'unvoxelized' mesh, leaving it in surface mode. When I attempt to bake a displacement map from the Retopo room I get basically a texture which represents only the retopo mesh itself, none of the sculpted detail from the Voxel Room. I also attempted to use 'merge for PPP with displacement' and got a new error, which is demonstrated in the link I provided to the other thread. The viewport looks fine, I get a nicely baked normal map. Displacment completely fails however. If anyone could offer some further advice it would be very much appreciated, since this is for a project which must be completed this week ( And I've never had this issue before ). I tested out exported displacements from native 3dCoat voxels/retopo and it worked fine. However I cannot get anything from the zbrush mesh. I also took it into Houdini to check the normals of the sculpture and the retopo geo and everything seems fine.... Help! -keating
  3. Hm I have installed the latest drivers for this card. At least I think so .
  4. To be thorough, I downloaded the actual latest beta as well as the latest stable beta release and both had the same issue.
  5. Hey, I've recently upgraded my machine with a QUADRO 4000 nvidia card. When I run 3dcoat with CUDA in voxel sculpting mode my system will freeze completely and I will need to reboot. ( It seems to happen with Large Brushes faster ) This occurs both in GL and DX modes. I downloaded the non-CUDA version and it works fine. Do you have any idea what might be causing this serious issue? To be s ure the Card tself wasn't faulty, I've tested it with out CUDA enabled software, like Houdini and i've had no problems. Thank you.
  6. Ahh ha. I've found the problem. I changed the $HOME/3D-CoatV3/Exchange to another directory, which I guess 3dcoat couldn't pick up. Changing it back to the original setting fixed the problem. Thank you for the help!
  7. Yeah. So here's what I do, just to be clear. Create an object. Use the 3dcoat shelf to create a COAT_OUT node using the object I created as a selection. Press 'export'. This does create an .obj in the appropriate directory. I go over to 3dcoat ( which is already open ). Do I just 'import' the .obj? Should 3dcoat open automatically? What is the appropriate procedure.
  8. Hm, I don't think that's it. I have the latest version 3.5.05 64bit with CUDA support, for Windows.
  9. Hello, I've downloaded the .zip file you attached and installed both the shelf and the .otl files necessary. I am, however, having a little trouble getting the files into 3dcoat. Should I just important the .obj from 3dcoat as usual? I can't quite tell from your video what is happening. Also, I don't seem to get the 'open in original app' option, that I see you using later in the video. Is there a 3dcoat plugin for 3dcoat itself? Thank you for your time.
  10. So, I've done a bunch of voxel sculpting and it looks great and I'm ready to go into the retopo room and start building some geo. Well, the plane of symmetry in the Retopo room is not lining up to the one in the voxel room. The sculpture has a long thin tail and when I get down into that area I can't retopologize properly because the plane of symmetry is so off. Is there a way to reset it ( I tried the 'reset symmetry planes' option but it didn't work. Symm copy inside of the voxel room didn't work either. I'm sort of in a time crunch and I can't figure out what has caused this issue!
  11. I'm having trouble getting the UV's i've set up inside of 3d Coat ( Using the awesome new add uv-set tools ) to show up inside of Houdini. When imported into Houdini, the UV's are all overlapping and there aren't any associated groups to allow me to seperate them. Does anyone know what the workflow for this is? Its driving me crazy and I know there's a solution to the problem. Thanks!

  13. Ahah, there was a stray triangle I didn't catch. That's the problem. Thanks very much!
  14. I'm starting to work with PTEX and was wondering if there is a way to import a model for ptex painting without 3dcoat subdividing it first? I have the model already setup in a low res format that I would like to keep. THanks! Keating
  15. Thanks guys, I guess I'll see if I can find a workaround. I find the Hide tool tends to leave faces hanging around that are difficult to select. I appreciate the help!
