  1. Hi SYSTEMDRIVE is a Variable that points normally to your Root of OSx Installation Drive. It seems that on your System that can´t be read or getting a wrong answer. You can do two ways to get it running first Way: Download Onyx here: http://www.onyxmac.com Start Onyx and go to Tab "Automize" make all options on and do that before you go sleep ;-) let it run after complete do a reboot and try the App link again. If that does not working for you try to change SYSTEMDRIVE = '' to SYSTEMDRIVE = '/' on line 42 in file 3dc_applink.py best Andre
  2. Hi if one of you that having Problems using a V4 Beta please have a look at your Exchange Folder in V3 of 3dCoat it was in a subfolder named 3d-CoatV3 in V4 Folder Name was 3d-CoatV4. In the Modo Applink in this Tread all Folder directions have the old pre V4 Beta Applink Path see here in source Code \\Documents\\3D-CoatV3\\Exchange\\import.txt you can try the manual Installation in this Forum a few posts later there the Folder is Hardcoded in Script to new Exchange Folder normally if you have not deleted your old Exchange Folder in your Documents Folder all must work ok but if you deleted this Exchange Folder you can make manually a new one or use the other manually install of Modo Applink for V4 Beta and higher. Main problem is that in V3 all Applinks are searching a Exchange Folder in a Folder called 3d-coatv3 if Andrew leave all like it in this Beta works than with 3dCoat V5 all Users have tree 3d-coatVx Folders it was much better do now a break go out of that Folder to a Folder Like Documents Applink or else. It is no real good Idea that 3dCoat works in a Folder called 3d-coatV4 but searching for Applink in a Folder called 3d-coatV3, all Applinks need that this Folder Exist the Path is in most ones hard coded.   4. Hi i put in this Post a Applink to Modo 301-501 for Mac OSx Snow Leopard and Lion. Attention it is not my own Package i modified the original Modo 1.01 Package from Neophyte so that it works with Mac OSx. 3dCoat Path must be under Username/3d-coatV3 that is since 3dCoat 3.5 earlier Installations can't use that Applink so if you have a older version running use please the Original manual Install from Neophyte or update your 3dCoat to a Version above 3.5 Installation: unpack archive open Modo go to System Menu pic run Script navigate to expanded Archive and open install.py klick ok if installation was ok you get a message if not you will run into error restart Modo after reopen modo go to system forms search form and klick with mouse to Button Vertices now in Form editor the Vertices button is selected Left Mouse Klick than duplicate now you have two entrees with name Vertices select the last one delete what is in field Command and put there @3dc_applink.lxm now rename the second Vertices to 3dCoat Applink or what you want Put the Entree 3dCoat Applink behind the entree Work Plane with that the Applink Button goes to last position in Menu Have a look that in Yourusername/3d-coatV3/Exchange a folder with Name Modo exist if not create one Restart Modo a second time after reopen make a default Sphere klick to Button 3dCoat Applink and a Palette opens there select export to 3dCoat you get a question where to save the Object put it in YourUsername/3d-CoatV3/Exchange/Modo Folder Open 3dCoat you get a question to import leave all and select ok Paint something on the sphere Open File Menu and select give Object back (i have a german Version i hope in englisch is that the name of menu) go back to Modo and klick import from 3dCoat Now you see your painting on the Sphere Thats was all now you can use it.   5. Hallo alle zusammen ich habe mich mit Andrew Kurtz geschlossen und er sagte das das ok ist. Was ok ist ? nun ja ich bit wohl kein Sculpter :-) daher würde ich gerne meine Edu Version für Mac gebraucht abgeben, wer Interesse hat sie geht für die hälfte des normal Kurses weg Ein paar Worte noch warum ich das mache, 3dCoat ist ein tolles Programm es kann viel viel mehr als ich davon auch nur im Ansatz nutzen kann ich bin zu Modo gewechselt auch da kann man sculpten aber viel weniger und keine Voxel aber für mich ist es ausreichend da es mehr in die Richtung geht in der ich arbeite. Es macht für mich wenig Sinn in einem Externen Programm zu sculpten wenn ich das sofort (das wenige was ich nutze) im Modeller machen kann. Ich finde es sehr bemerkenswert was manche hier aus 3dCoat raus holen so gut werde ich wahrscheinlich nie werden ;-) daher besinne ich mich meiner Leisten (Schuster bleib bei deinen leisten) und gehe einige Schritte zurück.   6. Hi after testing that Build a few days now i found non of the issues from first 27 Build good and fast work. But i have a Question, did nobody made a Mantis Bug of the other Mac Users here ? This Bug cams up with the first 25 Build i know that i and some others from Mac users reported memory Problems but i can´t believe that Reaction of that was using older version and wait . As i see same Bug in 27 i made a Ticket and there i see that nobody have done that before, it was a very good Idea if someone found a Bug or is not Sure if thats a Bug or a Problem with his own Computer ask here if others have same issue someone must open a Ticket at Mantis Bug Tracker. Not hole time are same people here reading and posting sometime was at work or at Holliday but being here and using Beta versions of 3d Coat are not to get newest Features and nice Toys thats Work ok funny work but is its work. So i invite every Mac User here to open a Ticket at Bug Tracker to tell the developers what going wrong i am sure that posting a Bug searching Logs and send Crash Dumps is work but exactly for that everybody here can use the newest Beta a second and also important thing is reporting new Features are working. If we posting Bugs to Bug tracker the next version will be fixed and is not ugly for some users without posting Bugs nobody here me included can be nervous if Bugs are in two or tree versions . I am self also used the old Version and think to me any other should make the ticket but that dosen´t work in last two builds so i think we must be stronger with us and if we found someone making a Bug in mantis Best Andre

  8. Hi same Bug now with OSx since V25C go to save and you get "OUT OF MEMORY save your Work" what you Guys think about us when you give us same Bug since V25.x ? Go Back to V 24 the last one that can save my Work and that can handle my Memory . If you need Help like Logs system Information or soothing else ask about that but V27.x is same than 25C unusable best Andre
  9. Hi vivi your model looks like made with only one layer if you retopo a complex model like that with only one layer you will have much much work . Normally you musts make layers for a better retopo with enough layers you can retopo every layer alone without getting trouble with a so complex model . Bevor you begin making a so complex model in C3d i would make a scribble and than i take many as i can to separate layers if model is ready i go from last layer to first and retopo every layer alone with that technique you got not that problems you have. Bevor you model starts you must know how to de montage that model in to pieces to retopo it later. Thats my way to handle complex models it must be not the only and not the right one but it works. best Andre
  10. H Andrew me same procedure with 3DC 3.5.25c i run most times in Out of Memory Errors and can´t work with that Version i go back to last one version .   11. Hi there are some Sculpting Apps on the Market, i checks most of them out and all are nice for playing a round but not for really working. Sculpting Apps are: iDough SculptPadHD 123D Sculpt (Autodesk free App) Idough and 123d Sculpt are usable but with limitations like no pressure control you must set before you stroke the valve but in idought you can set acting more real with smaller begin and end of the stroke . iPad without pressure Control and without Tablet our sensitive touchpad support is not a real Utility to sculpt, is nice to play a round or make a scribble but that was better made with a sketching app than in 3d. I test most 3d Apps that are on the Market with iPad and believe me not one of them is more than a nice Toy. The hole iPad is not more than that ;-) My big Mistake was to think that a iPad was like a Tablet PC so i buy very early one of them after a time (at me 6 Month) my Wife use it to look what coms today in TV Many other People i know pic up every Day here iPad and do nothing with it others than read or writhe mails or take a short look to some websites every phone can do same The only real working App i know is Citrix Xen App receiver, with them and a good scaled xen Server you can use a iPad truly for working solutions all other Things like Mail Web Project database are better in a Phone a second way to use it in business is for some reason as a presentation device the hole Rest is nice to have but not really need able. In the Future if iPad 30 coms up it may be that the devices than more free for developers ( i don't believe it) and High End Hardware is so small and small energy needing that Apps like 3d or Video Cutting is Business like performant I am sure that some others think others than me but that are my personal experience with iPads greetings from germany and sorry for my english ;-) Andre

Hi i purchased V3 at Monday this week, the app is absolutely other than any 3d App i know before it is very fantastic if you like to experiment with such a tool set the features are very nice and the Bots (looks like animated mathematical fractals made with simple geometry ) give you a toy to forget the time you spend on it ;-) In my eyes it is not a normal 3d Tool all Tools and are so different to normal 3d apps for me it looks more like a tool for making 3d experiments you get a special output while all pictures and Models are made with simple geometry like sphere box and some others you can do many magics with boolean tools and create new meshes but all outbound have this special grotto look . If you are like playing with simple geometry and go other way to your scene than normal 3d apps do than you can forget the time with groboto. i am sure that a 3d Modeler with some fantasy can bring out very nice animations and cool looking Models. greetings from Germany Andre

Hi every time i use Voxel Models not self painted only primitives and Library Primitives i get a broken Models after Re topology i attached a picture all Models looks like that after Auto Re topology for what this feature is in that Program ? if i must make the mesh self i don´t need a Voxel paint Program. If i give the Program Help Lines it looks a little bit better but in last 2 Month i get no Model out of 3dC without errors in Mesh. I Know it is a Beta but i get same result with the actual "Full Version" for what i purchase this Program ? not for making videos how nice i can paint Voxel Models if i cant get the Models out of the Program i can delete it same if i must do the hole Re topology Process self. I don´t know if all here like it to work with Banana Software for me it is pure Horror. I wait now some month that a Real working OSx version cams out as i purchased i don't do that for using it on many Operating systems i use for That only one OS . I take a look now to other Programs like that i am sure they are cost more money but if i took hole frustration crashes broken models crashes and a community where all is wonderful surprised about every new feature that ma by works on some OS on others not. Fix Issues and leave shit new features out of program since it works like you sell it ! The 64 Bit Version is nice but it cant work, why ? the 32 program also don´t work For results like on this picture i can use free ware and get a fine working mesh out of that i put a simple Picture and Time in this Post Merge a sphere with a Head (very complex) 3dC: more than 10 steps to get a model Model is broken all inclusive 12 Minutes plus waiting 65 seconds to save this complex scene Meshmixer (same Sphere and head) two steps for the Model one for export all inclusive 2 minutes modell is fine and works saving scene 5 seconds i attached pictures one from 3dc the second from meshmixer the pictures are not so good but you can see what is wrong every picture where is something wrong is from 3dCoat I get the same Results in 3.5 I use (will use) 3dCoat to make me Models for my renderings where a classical way is only with nurbs thats why i purchased this program, since the first day i get a program with workarounds so i go to here and test every beta that com up every of them have new features or some bigger Bugs fixed i wait now since 5 month to get a program that do same what many free tools can do and they do that fast and cleanly enough for me. Iam sorry about this clear posting but i am not a member of a Open Source community like blender there i would be know what i get, i purchased a Program for do some work with it. Hi, normally if a program is cross platform the code is the same on all platforms only the compiler handles the translation to other operating system so nobody must make a special version for mac. it seems that Andrew have split the 64 Bit windows Code from the 32 Bit version (i dom´t know i think so) normally thats the right way to leave 32 Bit Code out of new versions i don´t know where the problem is to bring up a 64 bit mac version maybe the framework or other things but i am not unhappy with the 32 bit version on mac it works like design and make a lot of fun. The only thing that for me was not ok is to bring one feature after the other and make the program bigger and bigger and in that process lost the connection to the ground for me it is not possible that i have feature x or y if the rest from program isn't ready and ready for me is a program that have not so much bugs and is stable without crashes. Than and only than it is time for feature requests. It is a heavy work to produce a program on all these platforms i know that more platforms more different bugs thats Murphy´s law. So i don't need a own version for me it was enough to get a stable mostly bug free version thats why i test the new Beta and if more people try to get a release bug free and not cry for new features (why i have not feature xy Zbrush can do that) we all get a better program ;-) greetings from Germany Andre
  16. Hi why the Mac Version is not same like Windows Version ? In 19a is no Option in Preferences to switch Beta Tools on or off so i think it is not same Version it is a older one. Please have a look at the Picture it shows the Main Menu from 3dc in German i don ´t know your way to bring new Features to the program but i think it was very much better to fix first the small bugs in Interface like dynamic menus for Main menu, automatic resizing of Buttons Bard and Menus if language others than English. Hi first i will say that it is not possible to make a not ready Program from a mostly stable 32 Bit Code to 64 Bit Code Andrew can do that if 3d Coat run like design without Bugs (or without most Bugs) and with all Features he want to put in. If he change the base to 64 bit than Bugs coms up thats normal but if the program self is in strong development like C3d at this time the developers don't know it is a old Bug that was fixed in 32 bit hat coms now in 64 bit up or is it a new Bug if yes is it from the code self or from new 64 bit mode and that will be very horror for the developer and mostly for us the users. Best work is bring the program in 32 Bit mode to a stable code base than if all changes are done and 3 or 6 month no big bugs coms up than freeze the code base and begin a new fork with 64 bit code all others is not usable for developers and for users it was a very strange time if you can change between 32 bit and 64 bit you and the developers have a good chance to get the 64 bit fork same stable as the freeze 32 one. greetings from germany Andre

Hi the 3.5.04 [beta]: is absolute Horror without doing anything it use 10 % CPU Power see the Picture. at some actions it goes out of memory and the hole mac frozen after that the filsystem must be repaired !! the only way to stop 3dc is to power off the mac. I purchased this program 2 weeks ago and until today i get no stable version !!!!!!!! So if i be a beta tester give me my money back please i will do tests for you but i don't pay for that. The actual Full Version isn't stable all Betas are not stable !!!!!!!! Developers what will you do ? bring us a stable purchased full version or make happy Betas with unneeded features memory leaks and crashes ? the way to put new features in your Beta Program without giv your customers a stable full working version is not the right way than i must look to other program The way that a not active program need 10 % power and every thing need more cpu Power than in the last beta version is not the right way , you wish to get debug code test it on your own systems !!! Iam very unhappy and angry that i purchased that program Beta 4 was the 4 th chance to do something for your mac customers and what did you done with that chance ? absolutly nothing than make the program slower more unstable and bring untranslated features in it. Sorry that is absolutely not the right way if i work like you i loose my Job !!!! It is not my Job to be your beta tester i purchased an App and will get for my money a working one so do your Job and make a working Version 3.5x without putting new untested features in it if you cant do that inform me i give you my Bank transfer information to transfer me my money back. It is not needet to put my system information here i have done this 2 weeks ago i put only the picture here with the activity monitor and 3dc in background without a scene is loaded. Hallo zusammen sagt mal wäre es nicht schön wenn 3dC. komplett übersetzt wäre ? es gibt hier die Möglichkeit dabei zu helfen: http://www.3d-coat.com/index_translation.php?language=German es wäre nicht schlecht wenn der ein oder andere der gut English kann sich mal eine oder zwei Seiten nimmt und übersetzt. wenn das nur 1 oder 2 Leute tun dürft Ihr euch nicht wundern wenn die Übersetzung mehr als nur Lückenhaft ist daher wie wäre es mal 10 Minuten Zeit investieren hätten wir alle etwas davon. Hi all yes i think so too the developers are fast in reaction but the things before release a version as stable are not done. ok it a young Program and the developers are in new business with it they must learn that a customer who has paid for a program isn't a friend of Bugs they must do more open Beta testing with the community. If i want use 3D C. for business i must pay 400 Bugs for it and get a program that crashes without restore last scene so if i work 5 hours and make a very complex scene i lost all that is not saved for hobby thats a problem for business that is no go. Today i check version 3.5.003 i hope that something goes better with that (Beta) and i hope that Andrew post more Betas here in Forum to check that the program coms stable and if that done all the little Bugs like thumbnail size missing windows and some others are gone fixit after Program gone stable. And after all that work they can give us a Release version but i think that time coms middle next year not earlier . So my Tip to developers is first cleanup the code and make a stable version then make new features nobody like a program with thousand of features but unstable. MfG Andre

Hi Andrew i will test the 03 version and hope that some Bugs are fixed for me it is very important that the program has no crashes all others in my Bug list (see Post from me in Bug Forum) is not so important most of them are small design errors but crashes are not usable for me. thanks a lot for fast reaction Andre
