  1. Ohhh i noticed better and 3Dc don't allow you to havem the same geometry mapped in different maps. Only later i noticed that when i import to 3Dc he erases repeated polygons from the lastest Uv's, so the first one keeps intact. I tryed to import Uv set but they get all fuzzy when i so that, vertex get out of place (even with geometry with exat poly number, vertex count and vertex order) Well, looks like im gonna have to use the regular UV's
  2. My requests - Change the word Transparency (brush strenght) to Opacity, since increasing the value it make the brush result more opaque. - Better spacing in the brush, More photshop like and not so slow. - Use Morphs to better paint and sculpt some already distorted areas. -The 4th tool (for color operations) is very good but could be better. You cant use smooth (shift click) while you are on it. And theres a thing missing here for a good painting. Smuding ! You got to have smudge on this. Another thing that would be cool would be blending modes on strokes. Screen, Color, Hue, Luminosity, Multiply. This 4th tool could have 3 input channels (instead of depth, color, specularity. what makes 3dcoat famous), like Modulation (blur, smudge, sharpen) Light (darken, lighten) Color operation (Saturate, Desaturate, Increase Hue, Decrease Hue). All in one stoke and it could substitute the other inputs, since depth and specularity are desactivated in this 4th tool. - Bezier brush tip, for better control of the center and the border flow of the brushes. EDIT: ups can you move this to normal requestes? didnt saw it was just for VS :\
  3. I've been trying to use multiple UV's to paint. This is a test model with some fast work on it. I'm very happy with the results 3DCoat had on handling the LightWave files and exporting multi textures from multi Uvs with the baking feature. Several exports in one click. What i wasn't so glad was the painting abilities. I can brush fine lines in 3Dcoat. But i have to check soft strokes wich start to slow the flow after a while. The spacing could be more like photoshop, but is just way to slow to use it in 3DC. The 4th tool (for color operations) is very good but could be better. You cant use smooth (shift click) while you are on it. And theres a thing missing here for a good painting. Smuding ! You got to have smudge on this. All in one stoke. The Transparency term, in brush properties, is not very well. Opacity would be better, because when you increase it you are making the brush result more opaque and not transparent. And for last; It would be nice to use Morphs in 3DC, since you can position the models in better ways to paint. I know there is a tool for that in 3DC, but morp support would be better i think. Well this is a WIP/Request post :P Keep with the very good work Andrew and team. The following pictures are 1 made in 3Dcoat using several Uv's ( i still need to join them in LW render, and one done in BodyPaint. I must say i like the both overall, but i felt more fine tone control in BodyPaint and faster brushing. Hope this doesnt stay like this cause 3Dcoat has it all to be THE TOOL
  4. I get " Unexpected end of file" in Digman Tutorials and i can't extract anything am i the only one? EDIT: Never mind, i heal it with Winrar and its fine now. EDIT2: The Draw with Pen.swf tutorial is wrecked even with the Winrar Repair
  5. Hi Andrew (and all you "3D coaters") First of all congrats for your software. I think it's very usefull, since it looks like you're building a creative and "wants to go further" 3D sculpting tool, with great features and concepts in its job: Rationalize and increse the detail of models. And doesn't get lost by having render or animation, yet. I just started using it yesterday and i am happy using it. There are so many nice and unique features in 3D Coat, but i'll go straight to the questions/remarks/suggestions. I only know and use Lightwave for 3D, so my thaugths are in a LW view. Some of these opinions are in fact questions, feel free to answer them Here it goes: - Freeze : Confusion with "Freeze" operation in Lightwave (and maybe others, dont know), wich converts the SubD level into Faces. There could be other good names for it since its a reversed, painted selection. - Is there a way to change the UV smooth type after the import settings? I would like the File>Import dialog remember last used settings. - Smooth UV is a important feature, i guess, if some wants to edit textures in Photoshop or so. 3D coat seems to have some problems, in my perspective, with this feature because: -->different source .obj files smooth UV map differently. I tryed your man2.obj and a model of my own, then "filtered" (open and exported) in aplications like modo, zbrush, and lightwave. And all had different results in UV mesh SubD Smoothing. Results i had go like this: Well Smoothed: Your native .objs and .fbx filtered in Modo. (with this i presume you made the files in Autodesk) Some Smoothed: .lwo, exported .obj from Modo and from 3D Coat. Linear: Exported .obj from LightWave and from Zbrush (Zbrush tripled N-gons). This is concerning because, in Lightwave, UV interpolation has the same results if the geometric data is also the same, wich doesn't happen in 3D Coat. Why? Therefore, this may cause some unexpected results in texture maps used between softwares. I made a photoshop file with results, so its more clear what i'm telling-> link -->Imported UV sets don't smooth. -->UV sets generated in 3D coat don't smooth - If i Import models containing UV, change the Uv with Quick UV Tool, and then export model or UV-set, the exported UV its equal to the first imported one, not to the new UV made in 3DC. This did not happened with UVless models. Am i doing something wrong? - If i save or export model or uv-set and double click a existing file instead of naming a new one, im not asked if i want to replace the existing file, like normally happens in this situation. - "Rotate along motion direction" brush option doesn't work in symetry because the brush rotation is not fliped; its the same for both sides. Shows like this / | / and should show up like this \ | / - File menu could include "Close" command - Window mode gets laggy, almost stops, if i maximize window, i work fine. I use Windows XP 32, Q9450, 4GB ram. I feel the program overall, a bit slow, more then other apps, when it comes to update data. But maybe i should try it in WinVista64. - "Smooth but keep edges" and "Full UV set Smoothing" look the same to me. I say this based on the lightwave usage. In LW you have, i think, 4 major UV interpolation modes: Linear, Linear Corners, Linear Edges, Subpatch. Your "No smooth" looks like Lightwave "Linear"; "Smooth but keep edges" like "Lienar Edges"; and "Full UV set Smoothing" looks again like "LinearEdges", but i guess it should look like "Subpatch". - Hide Floating Windows command could be added, like the Tab key in Photoshop - You made a very straight fast way of binding keys. Is there a way to save and load this sets like the options sets? - I did not yet understand how to make a good swap between Sculpt mode and "Normal" mode. until now i could not make a good clean Displacement map to use in LW. - I wish no matter how far 3D Coat goes in this world, that the "About" text, you made, never dissapears in its essence Sorry for all this "items" and good work.
