  1. Hey all, I've been having some issues in 3D Coat when I attempt to transfer from the Retopo room, baking my retopology, to the paint room. I looked into several forums that I stumbled upon in my googling adventures and there are a few individuals who seem to have a similar problem, calling it a bug but not mentioning any possible solutions to the issue. However, I am uncertain to whether it is a bug or simply an error on my part. Here is what's happening. I start in the retopo room and go to bake the object using Bake into scene (microvertex). I then adjust the outward mesh, then I work on the inner part. I've found that in order to get more of the internal from being visible I must use the brush tool to adjust the depth (rather blindly). BUT, after a certain amount of time there are still points in which I cannot get to hide. Once I've done what I can manage I continue on. (note: the image below does include the settings I've been using, but I've also tried upping it to 4K which doesn't seem to help any) Now, once I get to the paint room I've discovered that numerous chunks of my model are broken and littered with transparent scars. This is not the first time this has happen to me. However, last time I could fix it by creating a new layer and using the brush to fiddle with the depth (which essentially covered/erased the marks). This time though, it's not helping. Is this some sort of bug? An error on my part? If it is a fault of my own, does anyone have a suggested solution?
  2. Hi. I'm brand new to 3D Coat and want to learn it so I can teach my students. I've downloaded the free trial so I can use it at home, but when I try to launch it the program crashed before it even loads up. I've tried launching both the OpenGL and DirectX versions but the same thing happens to both. I'll attach a screenshot of what happens when it crashed to this post. I hope someone out there can help me with this as I don't have any idea of why this might be happening. I'm running Windows 10. Thanks.
  3. Hi, Please check and confirm if you get the same problem: http://3dcoat.com/mantis/view.php?id=2125 Below are full details of the bug-report: SUMMARY State of UI setting "Preferences, Hide Scrollers" is incorrect. DESCRIPTION In "Preferences"-dialog, in "Theme"-tab, the state of the checkbox setting called "Hide scrollers" is the opposite of what it is supposed to be. When "Hide Scrollers" is CHECKED (enabled), the scrollers are SHOWN. When "Hide Scrollers" is UNCHECKED (disabled), the scrollers are HIDDEN. This behavior is the exact opposite of what the checkbox is supposed to do. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Open "Preferences, Themes". Make "Hide Scrollers" checked, and scrollers will be shown (incorrect). Make "Hide Scrollers" unchecked, and scrollers will be hidden (incorrect). ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Please see the attached files for a visual description of the problem. Cheers, AgentSam
  4. This has probably been answered a million times but I am going to ask as I can't seem to find the answer on the forums (I know I am probably being stupid and not looking in the right place). I was wondering how it is possible to post bugs. I use the Steam version of 3DC (version 4.5.19) and I am running into an issue which I remember being a bug way before 4.5. Basically whenever I am in the retopo room I retopologize my model as normal and then in the same room I will start adding seams for my UV map. After adding the seams I unwrap and go into the UV room and nothing is in there, no voxels, no model. There is a layer however from the retopo room. I go to add a UV set as there is no UV sets made yet, as soon as I press the add UV set button I get a dialog box come up with a bunch of information about my computer and then I press ok and 3DC just shuts down. I was wondering what is the official way to log a bug so I could report this. Does it matter if I use the Steam version also? The current build of 3DC on Steam is one of the stable releases as far as I am aware. Thanks, Dave.
  5. Heeeeyyy So I just got retopo, and I know this is probably a really nooby mistake so that's why this is in the new user section. I got 3d coat for the auto retopologizing tool, but when I go to import a mesh for AUTOPO, none of my exported models come up, even though they are either .obj, .dae, and .fbx Help is appreciated.
  6. Hello everyone!! I'm Patrick and I've been using Sculptris up until now. I have some experience with ZBrush too although I don't own a copy of it, I simply had some fun doodling sculpts at a friends house to test the application (his copy). I loved it and will get it for myself eventually. I really like Sculptris too considering it's free in my opinion it gets a few extra points just for that =D I remember looking at 3D Coat a while back and thinking that that I wanted to get it. After a while I simply forgot as other things crept up when I finally had the money to purchase the software... I've returned now to test out the trial again and see what I think of it now. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ I have one problem with 3D Coat right now but I'm not too sure what you would call it so I'll try and explain my issue and hope that somebody else has had a similar problem but managed to fix it... Before explaining the issue I will give the specs of my machine and operating system: OS - Windows 7 (64bit) Pentium Dual Core processor - 2.70ghz, 2.69ghz RAM - 4gb Nvidia GeForce GT 240 (http://www.nvidia.co..._gt_240_us.html) This I believe is the correct card, I have the 1gb version. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Now I don't have the most poweerful machine here and it's a good two or three years old now. The problem I'm having is while sculpting with Voxel, I'm experiencing lag whenever I try to sculpt anything... The main reason I want this software is for the sculpting features. The other features are just a bonus =P I tried having a little look around the internet and these forums to see if anybody else has had any similar issuess and haven't found many people with any similar issue although there was one guy on a forum somewhere but there were no responses to his post. I tried making sure everything but 3D Coat was closed to save resources, I've also tried to update my drivers, I tried reinstalling the aplication and that didn't help either. I've checked the system requirements a couple of times to make sure that I didn't read it wrong or anything and I have the requirements for sure!! Does anybody have any suggestions?? -- I've watched a few videos and what not to check out the application again, I would REALLY love to get in the software and start messing around with the voxel sculpting to get some characters finished up fast and efficiently. Ultimatelly I'm going to get this piece of software but if I cannot get the trial to work without lagging whilst sculpting then I won't be getting it until I can afford to upgrade to a new machine and then purchase this. -- When I say that it lags I mean that it doesn't just have a quick lag spike but it continues to lag until I just wait for it to stop and this occurs every time I try to paint on the basic sphere created. If I decrease the brush size a little it seems to be ok but it's fairly small and I cannot work with that when required to move, push and pull to shape my characters. I should probably end this post here as I've been awake all night and this is dragging on a little.. I initially wnated to say hello to everyone and introduce myself then got to speaking about my little issue with this application in the hopes for someone to help me out with a solution, alternatively I will go ahead and try to install the 32bit version, will this help!? I look real forward to using this software and getting my work up on this forums if I can get the app to run ok with this trial and if so once the trial is up I would more than likely be purchasing it and joining everyone here =] Thanks for reading and sorry for the long ass wall of text!!
