Member Shadow Dragon Posted September 5, 2008 Member Report Share Posted September 5, 2008 Hi. I just found out about 3D Coat today. I was wondering. I was looking through the videos and features, and I didn't see anything that showed if you can paint on the model over seams so you can't see the seams. Is this possible with 3D Coat? Thank you. Advanced Member rimasson Posted September 5, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 5, 2008 Yes. Color and displacement are actuually stored on micropolygons, that you can export as seamless maps . You can also select the desired type of Uv smothing, to match the smooting type of any other 3dpackage. There's a small loss of quality when you import/export 4k textures, but on the other hand, 3d coat has a lot of cool tools, liek texture mirroring. Member Shadow Dragon Posted September 5, 2008 Author Member Report Share Posted September 5, 2008 Cool, So if I imported say "The Freak" by Daz3d, and textured him in here, I could get a seamless UV texture for him. I hope I got this right. Thank you very much.
philnolan3d
I don't know anything about The Freak, aside from seeing him in the hilarious short film, but you can paint across any UV maps seamlessly. In fact if you look at the included head model it's UV has seams so you can easily test by painting on it with one of the included materials or something.
