Transformation getter and setter functions?

Are there functions that allow to:

- get object's position in world space,

- get object's orientation,

- set object's absolute position in world space,

- set object's orientation?

I'm trying to assign off-axis object's position and orientation to variables, move it to origin, reset its orientation and convert object to global space. All this so I can Symm Copy a sculpted part (symmetry plane for this object is in a completely wrong place and orientation). Then I need to restore object's translation and orientation, so it goes back to its original place in world space.
