Advanced Member Gary Dave Posted February 19, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 19, 2014 I have searched high and low for an answer to this, but whenever I think I've found a solution, it doesn't seem to work for me. I'm trying to import an .obj (which has smoothing groups) into 3d coat so I can continue to work on it, but it always imports the model faceted. My search results always end at the same point, someone advising to change the smoothing groups option when importing. But there is no such option! Is it hiding? Taros
Click several times on the "Subdivide" button until you are satisfied with the smoothing before you click on Apply.
Advanced Member Gary Dave Posted February 19, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 19, 2014 Ah cheers, I can only seem to do it twice before it goes crazy, but it will do nicely.
Taros
Crazy? You mean it need some time to subdivide the model? Yes... that is true. But always you click, the poly amount grows two times bigger than before.
Advanced Member Gary Dave Posted February 20, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 20, 2014 No, crazy as in all the polys get screwed into oblivion. I'll take a screen shot the next time it happens,
New Member cjwidd Posted August 20, 2017 New Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2017 Unfortunately, this method of subdividing on import does not solve the problem in my case; it simply subdivides the faceted polys, creating twice as many. Is there an alternate solution?
