Advanced Member bobzilla Posted May 9, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 9, 2015 Is there a way to make fairly realistic looking feathers and/or fur in 3D Coat? I don't have a dedicated hair solution in my 3D app and would like to see what my options are. Obviously, it's not going to be dynamic or blow in the wind, by I'd like to know what's possible. Thanks! Bob
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted May 10, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 You can use the Fill Tool in the Paint Room to create a mask that looks like feathers or hair. Then go to the Sculpt Room and use that mask to extrude the feathers or hair. You can see the method in the videos below. In those videos the user is creating a mask that looks like little arrows, but you can make your mask to look like feathers or hair. The videos are in Japanese, but you can still basically see what is going on. I hope this will give you some ideas on how to proceed. Good luck!
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted May 10, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted May 10, 2015 Very interesting! It suggests ways to create heavy pattern clothing like sweaters, etc. The finer points would help with an English version.
