Voxel sculpting: imported object disappears...

I am quite obviously missing something fundamental (as I am just starting out using 3D Coat for sculpting),

but whenever I import an existing object into Voxel Sculpting mode and hit apply,

the object disappears as soon as I select a brush and I am left with nothing to work with...

Importing the same object in Surface Sculpting mode works like expected though.

I am using version 4.5.28 CUDA (DX64).

Pictures of your import settings would help. What is the appox Estimated Poly Count in the import panel. This number is very close to what you will get after clicking on apply.

A picture of your model before you click on apply.

having this issue as well. Imported a simple obj from maya to sculpt. It's there when filling out the initial menu with subdivisions and such. it's there when l press enter and it's there after. Just when l click a brush. bam. all gone

Since it is a simple obj can you share the file... I will look at it.

I checked a simple sphere obj exported from Maya LT and had no problem. Obj export set at default in Maya LT

I witnessed something similar a few minor versions back.   no idea if it is the same, but sharing in case it is.   Uninstall/re-install fixed it, but then found easier method, Renaming "ToolPresets" folder in (Windows) documents\3d-coatvxx fixed it.  (but obviously, loses tool presets).   A new toolpresets folder is created with factory defaults.
