Advanced Member geo_n Posted August 31, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 31, 2016 I wonder if its possible to select specific topology in 3dcoat to paint them accurately? In Modo I'm able to select polygons specifically then paint them. This is useful for me in some projects where I use the mesh flow as paint flow. I don't know if I can do it in 3dcoat wthout tedious masking so I"m doing this kind of painting in modo. Here's a very simple example. Member Percevan Posted August 31, 2016 Member Report Share Posted August 31, 2016 It's definitely possible, and as easy as you'd want it to be, dare I say check this:
Advanced Member geo_n Posted August 31, 2016 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 31, 2016 Gawd thanks! He said it " little known" draw mode. I never knew this. I've been importing and exporting stuff out of Modo just to paint models in exactly the same situations.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 31, 2016 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 31, 2016 You can also use the Polygon Paint draw mode to paint select a group of polygons you want to mask, using the Freeze brush (don't forget, you can store/reload freeze masks in the FREEZE menu). And Obviously you can invert it, just like you would in Photoshop, with the same Hotkey (CTRL + SHIFT + I) combo. Then paint like you normally would, with brushes, stencils and Smart Materials.
