[Solved] 4.7.24 and 4.7.29 DX failure to launch

I've just been testing the 3D-coat trial (I tried both the stable and beta version) and it seems to work OK in GL but DX fails to launch. I've attached screenshots of the error (simply a black window) and the log file. It seems strange as I'm using Windows 10 and a Radeon HD 7900 and never experienced any problems with other software (Unreal Editor, games like Fallout 4 all run well).

It's kind of a deal breaker for me in terms of purchasing because having the option to work in both DX and GL would give some flexibility in avoiding certain bugs and such.. and I heard DX is faster for Win10.. Any ideas?

When I get something like that...which is very rare, I typically reboot the PC. It tends to reset things

I know what you mean, but nope, that doesn't do anything.. even straight after a fresh reboot.

I updated the AMD radeon drivers to 17.10.2711.1021 which it says is the latest one for me (released about a week ago I think) and it's still the same. Not sure what it could be :/

The error itself "Couldn't create Direct3D device interface." means that there is no proprietary graphics driver in the system (http://support.amd.com/en-us/download). But because you have stated that it is installed try 32-bit and 64-bit versions of "3D-Coat" from here (http://3dcoat.com/forum/index.php?/topic/19525-3d-coat-47-beta-testing-thread/). Which of them works using DirectX? Also please try to download and run this test package (http://www.3d-coat.com/~sergyi/Tests/3D-Coat-Pressure-Test.zip). Does executable file "3D-Coat-Pressure-Test (DX).exe" work or only "3D-Coat-Pressure-Test (GL).exe" runs?
(these executable files have the same graphics initialization code as in "3D-Coat" but it will be easier to debug using them)
Please report the results on my e-mail "support DOT linux AT 3dcoat DOT com".
