Advanced Member Ratchet Posted June 12, 2017 Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 12, 2017 After Auto Retopo , it would be helpfull to be able to reduce the number of polygons with a polygon reduction tool tool like those we can find on some 3D modeling software. It would help a lot to get faster models for real time apps instead of manually retopo.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted June 12, 2017 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted June 12, 2017 You can do some significant poly reduction by using the DELETE EDGES tool, holding the SHIFT key down, to delete entire edgeloops at a time. I have asked for a DOT-LOOP/DOT RING feature like there is in 3ds Max (where it selects every other loop or ring), but until we get that, this is the best way to approach it. Advanced Member Ratchet Posted June 13, 2017 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted June 13, 2017 (edited) I know manually you can do some work, but we need a quick way, to reduce poly for high res models. But his is mainly for poly reduction on a retopo from Autopo tool, most time when you select a loop you have many selected, because Autopo makes intersecting loops. Well, an automatic polygon reducers would be a great addition to retopo. 63 000 to 10 000 polys. Carlosan
Try polygon cruncher. It is gaming industry standard.
Advanced Member Ratchet Posted October 12, 2017 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 12, 2017 (edited) Why 3D Coat could not improve in that area , staying all in one software with more tools ? By the way, there is also Instant Meshes, a free autoretopo quad based https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSvY6xI63oI Edited October 12, 2017 by Ratchet
