Intel Unveils New 16- And 18-Core i9 Desktop CPUs To Counter AMD Threadripper

Looks like Intel is really rushing this, seeing that the power draw and heat, if overclocked, is through the roof.

I'm still not going back to Intel anytime soon. Not after all of their shenanigans. Just look at the price-gouging. The 16-core variant is over $700 more than the ThreadRipper, with 16-cores. They remain obstinate in their pricing, and we all know that if AMD Ryzen/ThreadRipper wasn't all that competitive, these CPU's would be more than a year or two down the road.

My guess is that AMD counters around the first of the year, with Ryzen 7's with higher clock speeds and other improvements and perhaps a 24-32 core version of ThreadRipper. AMD needs to be able to get their CPU's up around the 4.5Ghz range. If they do that, they stand to really put a hurt on Intel's lineup.
