Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted October 25, 2017 Advanced Member Report Share Posted October 25, 2017 Wow, thanks a lot. Houdini is the ONE. That viscosity test halfway through was amazing.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted November 8, 2017 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted November 8, 2017 Really impressed with the development teams of both SideFX and Blender, lately. I have a Houdini Indie license, but it's been on the shelf for the most part, cause the learning curve is rather steep and using nodes for everything seems a bit more cumbersome and hard to get used to. Will have to get over that mental hurdle, cause it's a great piece of software.

I find it's not the nodes that are formidable so much as the VEX scripts that the modes take on as you dig deeper and deeper into them. I'm no programmer and trying to follow the tiny script in their attribute editor boxes is really hard to follow and even harder to learn. Advanced Member Nossgrr Posted November 12, 2017 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 12, 2017 It's definitely a different animal, a hybrid between creation thinking and technical thinking. I have a few tutorial series lined up for 16.5, cant wait to dig in.
Member OutOfShadow Posted November 17, 2017 Member Report Share Posted November 17, 2017 I think Houdini and 3DC - great combo since you can sculpt & paint in 3DC, which you can't in Houdini
Advanced Member houGenie Posted December 17, 2017 Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 17, 2017 Yes, 3D Coat and Houdini are a great combo. I wish Houdini would be better at modeling, Maya is far stronger in this respect. But this new reducing algo in 16.5, looks awesome !
