Member 3dmaven Posted January 9, 2018 Member Report Share Posted January 9, 2018 I accidentally deleted my skin shader and now I can't get it back. Restart 3D Coat doesn't reset your shader list and I don't see any way of restoring lost shaders.

Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted January 9, 2018 Contributor Report Share Posted January 9, 2018 You can get it back by using a HD recovery software on the folder where the material existed before the deleting!!! Been in that situation 2 times and managed to recover the files back (more than 90% of them).
Member 3dmaven Posted January 10, 2018 Author Member Report Share Posted January 10, 2018 I didn't want to do a full reinstall, and I still had the tar.gz file, so I just put the missing files back where all the other shaders are stored. Everything's fine now. Thanks everyone!
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted January 10, 2018 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted January 10, 2018 It would be a good idea to save ANY custom shaders, Smart Materials, Presets, etc. as a 3DC pack. That way they are stored in a .3dcpack file that you can save elsewhere on your hard drive, and quickly retrieve them, in such events. It's also a good way to move all of them to your laptop or other computers. You can create a 3DC pack by going to the FILE Menu > CREATE EXTENSION. Choose which assets you want to store in the file, and you can later install it by clicking INSTALL EXTENSION, in the same FILE menu.
