Member Martin Maximilian Michl Posted March 18, 2018 Member Report Share Posted March 18, 2018 Hello, I am working on a prop for an animation its a cartoony spaceship. The working process should be intuitive and artistic, so its a perfect job for 3D Coat. The astronaut already exists in Maya. Rendering will be done with Vray. I would like to start this thread to show my development, as to ask some questions coming up. Also artistic comments are welcome. Hope you enjoy Martin
Member Martin Maximilian Michl Posted March 18, 2018 Author Member Report Share Posted March 18, 2018 here is my first question: for the windows bulley, I would like to bend a cylinder to the curvartion of the ship I did not succeed doing this with the warp tool, and I don't see any other tool capable to do so. So I constructed the bulley(window frame) by booling objects. Still bending/deforming would be so great, because it would allow me to add details while the object is straight, and then deform it into position. Thnx Martin
Member Martin Maximilian Michl Posted March 18, 2018 Author Member Report Share Posted March 18, 2018 I just discovered the "use free form" option inside the pose tool I think this could do the trick. but here comes another question: is it possible to deform a group of objects at the same time. the pose tool only works for one Vox layer at a time. and it doesn't seem to work for children of a parenting layer (what would be great)
Member Martin Maximilian Michl Posted March 18, 2018 Author Member Report Share Posted March 18, 2018 just found a way to do so. the pose tool letz you select many objects and then you can deform the whole group

Member Martin Maximilian Michl Posted March 31, 2018 Author Member Report Share Posted March 31, 2018 Hey ho I pushed this little prop from sculpting to retopo to baking without any problems Now the texturing with smart materials is pure fun. 3DCoat is such a great program, once you understand the whole concept of Autopo, UV Sets and baking, it works for you and letz you focus on creativity. Thanks a lot to the Pilgway Team *** So the next step will be to tweak those materials and then sculpt the moon surface.
