Using voxels for Second Life

3D-Coat offers possibility to use objects made in voxels for SL. There is pipeline:

1. Create object to be used in future as pattern:

http://screencast.com/t/sbiv9TiePvV

2. Use 3D-Coat voxel sculpting to create object, bake, export sculpt map:

In addition you can paint texture and export it from Textures->Export->Diffuse map

Textures will contain baked occlusion that is very convenient.

Very easy!

And there is result:

SL_Result.zip

Hi. The current version menus appear to be much different. And attempting to follow these tutorials does not result in the same results. For instance there is no mtl export format available anymore.

Can you explain the changes as they relate to the current version?

thx

edit: ah hah got the example to work at last.

This suddenly no longer works. The version has not changed. Is this program really that unstable as to work one day and not the next?

Please post in text with pictures the step by step process using the current user interface to produce a sculpt map that does not have a 2 pixel high line of noise horizontally across the center.

Thanks.

I can confirm the above bug, happens in 3.5.17.

I ran through this process in a previous build (3.5.15E I believe), so somewhere between then and now has changed the way this works.

Depends on which build you're using. :) If you're using anything that is marked BETA, then yes. If you're using 3.5 or earlier then it should work without flaw.

I know I say it a lot, but when using a BETA build it musn't be used for production work, nor expected to perform as a final stable build. I've had plenty of times where I've gone ahead and used one of the beta builds in production work because I needed one of the new features... And it bit me on the backside. Using BETA software for production = Bad idea.

This isn't targeted at you Steve, it's a gentle reminder for us all, even myself. Using BETA software for work is always a bad idea.
