Member Arashi2 Posted August 22, 2009 Member Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 Hello, first of all i must say that im really impressed by 3D Coat. I know both other programs zBrush and Mudbox but 3D Coat is my new favorite tool. Custom brushes like in PS, clear interface, fbx support and most important it supports my 3D Mouse. ^^ But now to my question - how can i paint both sides of a face? I have a room and would like to paint the inside of it. And is it possible to invert the face normals and turn backface culling on so that you can look in the inside of the mesh without the need to hide the polys? thanks in advance. Advanced Member kay_Eva Posted August 22, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 22, 2009 As far as I know you never paint 2 sides of a face, you just place a mesh for the interior of the room and then another section for the exterior. Advanced Member juanmanuel Posted August 27, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 27, 2009 Practically all walls that define a room would have a very palpable thickness, so it wouldn't really be double sided painting. Maybe for tree leaves, membrane structures, but not for walls, IMVHO.
Advanced Member Oliver Thornton Posted August 28, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 28, 2009 3DC can only output data to a UV map, so any single poly could currently only be painted on one side. With two copies of the object though, you could import a clone of the object/wall/poly/etc with the normals flipped though, which should let you visualize the same effect as you paint.
