3D-Coat 3.5 updates thread

All bugs are important. So I beg all people, who are really interested in seeking bugs, to post all issues into our bug reporting system.

Your posts will be listed there in the right order and you can alway see the developing status. Some users verify your bug too, if you ask for. Additionally you will be informed immediately, when your posted bug is resolved.

Ok, I thought it wasn't the appropriate moment sorry if I've dissuaded users to report bugs. I'll report right now, but we need some adjustements to mantis:

a windows 7 x64 profile for platform

a liveclay related section maybe.

Win7 (32 & 64 Bit Platforms): Already there.

Liveclay related section: Please use Liveclay in relation of "Sculpting (Surface mode in Voxel room)" or "Other".

When we set an own category for every part of 3DC, then we will earn chaos someday... ;) I guess the existing categories serve all areas and if you don't know where to post your issue, just use "Other".

I don't know how to report my issue (colour picker crashing 3dc, Linux) in mantis, meanwhile I will stick to 19A.

- Click on "Report issue"

- Fill out the form

That's it...

TIP: When you sign up, you will receive all answers related to your bug report and gets an information, as soon as the bug ist resolved.

About win 7 64 profile, this is what I get:

Am I doing something wrong ? I can enter the detail manually but let's say if I really want to report every single bug I encounter this will be quite annoying.

I just enter mine manually, there's no way they can list every possible computer configuration.

That's really weird. It was added, but seems to have disappeared. I'm sure when Chris (Taros) sees this, he'll re-add it. I can see the profile, but I think that is just the one I created (and that others cannot see it?).

EDIT: I see, once you've created a profile in your account, it will be there until you delete it. So I guess you *could* add one and use it, but this is a common OS choice and should have it as a global option (which I cannot seem to add, I've tried and just double checked). Chris (Taros), is this something we can add? :) Thanks!

Thanks, I didn't realize you can set that up in the profile. Now my drop down list has "PC Windows Vista x64".

Can't, I typed it quite a few times today, nothing was added to that menu... If Taros could add it would be cool, like you said it's a common configuration profile now, it should be here for newcomers at least.

[EDIT] Ah ok, got it, it's in my account, I thought it was auto added after typing it manualy, thanks for pointing that out.

3.5.21 [beta]

- Important step forward! I made Boolean cutting the surface with E panel rectangle/lasso/ellipse/ I finally achieved very good stability and speed in boolean cut with very many sequential booleans - http://bit.ly/llo2IB

Im using Booleans all the time, would be nice if this would also have the "Invert tool Action" like other tools

ie: cut out everything "other" than selection.

Also The behavior is different than "Subtract from" which is very accurate.

Similar to "Cut&Clone", Selections seem to have some strange boundary offset , where the mouse selection is "reduced" a little from what was org selected.

This is a little more accentuated in "Cut and Clone" as the selected cut area is "incressed" and the resulting moved cut piece is "reduced" the original mouse selection.

This maybe when rez'ing up but seems to be consistant.

I have major PC crashes with this build, my PC is kinda crashy, but it's been blue screening every time I use 3DC for the past few days when it doesn't blue screen 3DC crashes. This is all when using the paint, Sculpt, and Retopo rooms.

Updated to 3.5.23 [beta, not verified] Win. Mac+Linux expected very soon, but I need at least brief test from Win users (I was testing it of course, but it really worth some approvement).

- All blending modes in paint room ae synchronized precisely with Photoshop.

- I was working over baking improvements. I made following changes:

  • Baking method is consistent - depends on what you chosen in Retopo->Snap to... I recommend using "Snap to closest along normal". But in some cases (many overlapped reference poly surfaces) - use "Snap to outer surface". Use "Snap to closest along normal" in voxels.
  • Baking scan direction will be chosen in smarter way - there was problem when small and bug polygons was neighbours.
  • Snapping will be performed better, especially if you have thin surfaces, points will not be snapped to other side.

- updated Live Clay + Reduce

- Fixed UV room & materials palette issue - http://bit.ly/jvCdMF

- Fixed problem of freeze tool in paint room - http://bit.ly/p0ryeN

- I improved quality of export voxel mesh with simplification, triangles quality improved - http://bit.ly/oOow8Z . Triangles on almost planar surfaces will satisfy Delone condition, it leads to better triangulation.

- Fixed problem of merging additional oblect into microvertex scene.

- Even if there are so many descriptions of PS blending modes no one of them was full and precise, so this sync took a lot of time.

- Merging new 3B file to the non-empty scene will merge retopo mesh/strokes into correctly.
