Javis
Hi all, I've got some new 3DC video training up on my site! I've also got a new web shop so you can peruse the items before purchasing. The new videos are centered around hard surface sculpting based around KitBashing (by popular demand!). The main attraction is the Hard Surface Compendium. It contains each of the individual videos below (except for the kitbashing set, that would be redundant!) for a total of 7 videos (Merge Tool Essentials has 2 videos), and can be found here: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0009/ With this set of videos you can now buy them individually (for a little more) or buy them in bundles (for a little less). So, let's check out the videos: The KitBashing series covers sculpting a scifi space ship, with heavy influences from many scifi movies, comics and such. You can buy in parts or in a bundle. We cover the creation from beginning to end of the ship, using various techniques, tools and methods. KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Part I URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0002/ KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Part II URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0003/ KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Part III URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0004/ KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Part IV URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0005/ This is the set of four videos from just above. KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Set URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0006/ Merge Tool Essentials covers nearly every aspect and setting of the Merge tool in 3D-Coat 3.5, including the modeling of an asset to be used for merging in 3D-Coat. Merge Tool Essentials - URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0008/ In Auto Retopology for Hard Surfaces we'll use the scifi ship from the KitBashing series as our demonstration piece, we cover the settings of the auto retopology tool and how they function with hard surfaces. We'll also paint in density and lay in some guides for surface topology. Auto Retopology for Hard Surfaces - URL: http://javisjones.com/products-services/videotraining/video0007/ I've just posted the videos up last night and have not yet officially announced them anywhere other than my own site and here. I would like to offer a few coupons codes to those interested. When you are in the shopping cart, just copy/paste this coupon into the coupon code box. I should note however, the coupon codes do not stack. So you should pick one that works for you. (I've made aware to the developer of my ecommerce solution that I wish them to stack, they may eventually in a few months implement such a feature. Not holding my breathe!) Anyway, the codes are: Running through to the end of October, and apply to all products: For $10 off coupon (over $50): 10offOCTOBER2010 For $20 off coupon (over $100): 20offOCTOBER2010 Limited amount of coupons only for the Hard Surface Compendium: (Very limited) For 30% off coupon for the Hard Surface Compendium: 30HARDSURFACE (Somewhat limited) For 25% off coupon for the Hard Surface Compendium: 25HARDSURFACE
Contributor Greg Posted October 7, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted October 7, 2010 Hey Javis, those look really good. I'll be buying once I get an o.k. from a client for a job I'm working on (that means he'll owe me money, so I'll have some). And (stepping onto my soap-box), everyone, Javis has done a lot for our community - free tutorials, help etc. Let's support him by buying! We already know his work is great, and if you want to see his teaching style, look on the vimeo channel. We really need to support those who actively support us. (off the soap box). Thank YOU very much for saying that. I truly, and humbly, appreciate it. Thank you. PS - I hope one day you have a commercial series, you know I'll buy it. Contributor Greg Posted October 9, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted October 9, 2010 Something I like about these videos are that they make you feel like you're hanging out with a friend, doing some 3D. I don't mean that they stray off the subject, just have an easy-going style to them. I really should be watching them in order though.. gotta see what the caps lock key does. So far, Greg

So far, Greg Hey thanks man. Appreciate it! I had a discussion with Greg Smith at Siggraph actually. He thought I was going to be completely up tight and, well, a jack ass I'm sure. Based on my previous videos I came off as a tight wad and prissy, so I decided to take it down a few notches and just be myself a bit more. I had more feedback from a friend of mine on the topic too, I figured why not do it for my next video set, just chill out, relax. Talk as if the other person was there and we were just shooting the S about what I was showing. I really liked how it worked out in some of my test videos, so I went with it, and so here it is. I'm really glad you enjoy that aspect of it, because I found it important - It's much more personal and on a friendlier level. I know it wont work for some people, but I feel better about it. Also, I still kept the content there, the level of quality for training and tried hard to keep it fast but not so fast it feels like I'm not explaining things, which I find is a problem on a lot of training videos (DT comes to mind). Anywho thank you sir, again. It's nice to hear this.
Javis
gotta see what the caps lock key does. So far, Greg Sorry forgot that part... It hides the circular brush icon and intensity line, replaces it with a little dot... It's pretty sweet really. It helps so much while sculpting organic stuff. I tend to use it with hard surface stuff, just to hide the brush because it's completely pointless while using the merge tool.

Nice job on the kitbashing tutorial Greg, lots of useful information in there to use. I am still working my way around 3DCoat, so these types of tutorials help more than fumbling around and reading the manual. Thanks.
