Normal Maps

Ive had a bit of bother with this...but I think I have sorted it, but just a question anyway.

In the Prefs you can choose between 3d Max+LW OR Maya for your Normal maps....whats the difference?

I have had it on Max/Lw for my "experiments" I use Carrara for my rendering. My initial imports were a bit weird ,one side of the model seemed to be lit from above while the other side below.I was pulling my hair out over this.Then I noticed some check boxs in the Normal map setting for Carrara .."Invert Colour" and "Flip X" ,checking these two seems to sort it out! Hurrah!! Ive not tried exporting using the Maya setting yet. I suspect this may fix it.

I think the difference between max and maya normal maps is that maya's normal maps has reversed green channel.. could be the other way around..

I read it somewhere in the manual once.. :)
