New Member Laatz Posted February 4, 2016 New Member Report Share Posted February 4, 2016 Hi Can't find the Import Dicom slices function in the newer betas. Did you remove the ability to do this or am i looking for it in the wrong place?
Andrew Shpagin
Create file dicom.dat in Coat's intallation folder and Import DICOM slices will appear.
Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 5, 2016 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) I followed Andrew's advice and the result shown in the attached image... I do not use this kind of workflow but good to know about it... Create a simple text file using notepad. No information needed in the body of the text area. Save the file as Andrew said, dicom.dat You will have to type in the .dat extension yourself. Drop in the main 3DC install folder under programs. Advanced Member benk Posted February 5, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 5, 2016 I just added an empty folder named dicom.dat in the installation folder and it seems to work fine. As far as I can tell there is no segmentation function available but it does generate a quick model that can be examined through axial, sagittal and coronal views. Might come in handy for some things. bk
Andrew Shpagin
You generally may separate areas of some density to separate objects. There is clone button to do this. Select area first, use Click to highlight.
Advanced Member benk Posted February 6, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 6, 2016 Thanks for the tip Andrew. After I posted previous message I played with it a bit more and discovered a bit on how to use it. Segmentation in my copy of the program seems a bit unstable as the program crashes often. Additionally import of dicom image sets can also readily cause a crash. Any tips to avoid crashes would be greatly appreciated. BK

New Member Solution Laatz Posted February 9, 2016 Author New Member Solution Report Share Posted February 9, 2016 Thank you Andrew. Worked perfectly.I haven't had a real use for this yet more than being awesome for studying muscles and bones.I guess I could use it as a reference base for muscles/skeletal parts. Here is an experiment with a fairly high resolution Dicom at different Thresholds.
