philnolan3d
I do all of my editing and compositing in HitFilm Express 2, which I got at a discount. But now Version 3 is completely free! If you haven't used HitFilm it's like they took Adobe Premiere and After Effects and combined them seamlessly into one program. It's very intuitive if you know those two programs. https://hitfilm.com/express

philnolan3d
The one thing I miss is the third party support that After Effects had. There are no third party plugins that I know of like the connection between AFX and LightWave.
Advanced Member Aleksey Posted July 21, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 21, 2015 can anyone compare this with fusion? i saw fusion has editing features too.
Carlosan
Hitfilm is mainly a motion graphics package, with some compositing/grading capabilities. Fusion is mainly a compositing/grading package, but has very good mograph tools and also a full true 3D compositing environment and some basic 3D modelling tools. Fusion is high end and nodal. Hitfilm is more prosumer and layered. Source
philnolan3d
I like layered compositing. It has pretty much all the same tools as After Effects. I'm pretty sure people use that professionally. It should be noted that the source link above says a lot of nice things about both apps. Advanced Member Nossgrr Posted May 1, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 1, 2016 I had my finger over the download button and then saw the missing features, Particles, Chroma, 3D..etc. Didnt get. If you're already using the software in a studio and want to have a home copy, this is great.. But with all the other free options out there, you have to make it appealing if you want people to switch to your suite. Maybe I'm missing something, dont hesitate to comment if i am. Advanced Member Nossgrr Posted May 1, 2016 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 1, 2016 Thanks Carlosan, I didn't realize the price for the Pro version was so low to start with.. And the add-on packs for express makes it very affordable. Checking out
