Contributor artman Posted November 7, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted November 7, 2010 I like both ideas, they are much different. Warrior or commander...hard to choose.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 7, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 7, 2010 Lets go for a "rock-band singer" posed fighter! I had a lot of trouble with the symmetry mode (different results on both side...). Though it is too early I'll work with symmetry off. Advanced Member michalis Posted November 7, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 7, 2010 Great use of scrape tool ! This with the add, move and pinch tools are my favorite and more than enough to build everything solid. Plus the huge portions cut outs. In vox mode of course. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 8, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 8, 2010 Slow progress. The hands and feet are going to take more time than the face (wich is still too rough). Poor naked goblin. Wanna put some clothes on him quick.
Contributor artman Posted November 8, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted November 8, 2010 What about a small buckler in left hand instead of a sword.? Sword is cool but you will need to work hard on hand gesture...buckler is easy; hand is already in position. I think pose is perfect.Really good amount of tension in neck and shoulders, legs grounded but not too stiff.Just need some clothes like you said. If you want to break symmetry even more an armor piece on left shoulder could work or an eyepatch could work too. Just throwing out some ideas. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 8, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 8, 2010 Artman > Thank you for the ideas and the small figurine pic. Yeah, a Shield could be fine. But I wonder if it will fit with your morning star idea (Wich is nice for dynamism with a chain floating in the air). I have to think more about it. Anyway, it's good to hear you. It helps thinking. BeatKitano > No problem man. Go for it. I'm not the goblin ruler. I'm kind of exited to see what you will do with the punk-rock goblin. Thank you for the pose crits. Yeah, those "wrestler-punks" are very inspiring. It's true that tendons and veins would add a lot. I'll see if I can tweak the pose a little more. Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 9, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 9, 2010 Pose problem almost solved. I didn't noticed the details became so blurry; it may happened when using the pose tool or merging parts with different density. Hope it wont happen once more when adding weapons and clothes. Tried to add of pain expression on his face. He'll probably have an arrow or two in his back.

Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 10, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 Added BeatKitano's tendons and veins on the neck. No big progress on other parts tonight. I'll post next screen-shot when the body's done. This is becoming a bit boring. I thought about the pedestal: planing to use old dices (those with more than 6 faces) around it.
Contributor LJB Posted November 10, 2010 Contributor Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 Looking Nice, On the Right arm I think you need to get the Weapon in there as soon as possible. Im not sure the Type of flail you suggest in your sketch will be heavy enough to make an such an extreme Flexion, Also my only other comment on this wonderful pose is maybe if you doo decide to add a little more wait to the flail to put a bit more stress on the right shoulder pulling it down some more, he looks a little too square at the moment and it feels a little contradictory of the extreme stress on the arm. I tried posing this way imagining i have a heavy weapon of some description and I definitely drop my shoulder. Real Nice work though. Real Nice!!! Advanced Member michalis Posted November 10, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 10, 2010 Whatever, I like this style, its real sculpture. I'm not a fun of trolls mythology etc but Its just me. These are great attempts for 'real' sculpture. A fine nude study after all.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 11, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 11, 2010 LJB > Thanks! Yes you are right. Dropped shoulder is better with a heavy weapon in right hand. I really like Artman's morning star idea, but the goblin has a wrong pose for this kind of weapon now; I keep his shield idea though Tried a little sketch to imagine what it could be in the end. Still no idea for the helmet style and other parts. Just a vague idea of the whole move. Armour parts slightly floating in the air would be cool (gauntlet), but hard to do... Michalis > Calispera. Efkaristo! Thank you for your kind words. It helps keeping motivation.

Advanced Member michalis Posted November 17, 2010 Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 17, 2010 excellent work so far. The shield looks great, how have you done these symmetrical ornaments there? I know how in zbrush but not in 3DC.
Advanced Member Garagarape Posted November 17, 2010 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted November 17, 2010 LJB, Michalis, Thanks! The pattern on the shield is just done with an alpha brush made in photoshop. It's a very low tech solution (But I'd rather use something like "Match Maker" in fact...)
