Unlike materials, which create new textures from scratch, filters take&nbsp;<strong>existing<\/strong>&nbsp;layer or object data, modify it, and return it back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-it-works\">How it works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Filters are ideal for mass correction. For example, you can create a filter that makes colors more contrasting, adds blur, or inverts channels.<br>The main feature of a filter graph is that it actively uses nodes from the&nbsp;<code>Layer<\/code>&nbsp;category (e.g.,&nbsp;<code>inLayerColor<\/code>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<code>inLayerFloat<\/code>) to read the current state, modify it using mathematical or color correction nodes (the&nbsp;<code>Color<\/code>&nbsp;category), and pass it to&nbsp;<code>outAlbedoColor<\/code>&nbsp;or another output.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"usage-examples\">Usage Examples<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Typical tasks for NGFilters:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Color Correction:<\/strong>\u00a0Adjusting brightness, contrast, hue (HSV) for the entire layer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sharpen \/ Blur:<\/strong>\u00a0Mathematical manipulations with pixels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Stylization effects:<\/strong>\u00a0Posterization or converting the image to a halftone raster.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"creating-your-own-ngfilter\">Creating your own NGFilter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open the Node Editor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add an input node from the previous layer (e.g.,\u00a0<code>inLayerColor<\/code>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add modification nodes (e.g.,\u00a0<code>BrightnessContrast<\/code>\u00a0or the mathematical node\u00a0<code>Multiply<\/code>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Connect the modified result to an output node (e.g.,\u00a0<code>outAlbedoColor<\/code>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Save as a preset in the Filters category.
