View each room as a \u201cmini-application\u201d connected through and through. <br \/>Each room is designed to present you with a set of tools and menus that are all related to one part of the creative process. This structure helps you to concentrate on one operation at a time and make your entire working time as productive as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1\">\n<p><em>When you select a room by mouse or by keyboard, only the tool relevant to your current task show up in the Menus and Left tool panel.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"g4fc636ca4a3a\">Interface<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Top menus are always available on all workspaces: File, Edit, View, Curves, Windows, Scripts, Addons, Capture and Help. <br \/>All other menus change depending on the Workspace you select. Each menu set is designed to support a particular workflow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1\">\n<p>If your panels are reverting to default settings when you open them, it might be due to a workspace reset or a configuration issue. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To ensure your custom panel layout is saved, try the following steps: <\/strong><br \/><br \/>1. Arrange your panels as desired. <br \/>2. Go to the &#8220;Windows&#8221; menu and select &#8220;Store this page layout&#8221; to save your current layout (Store only this page layout to file). <br \/>3. Go to the &#8220;Windows&#8221; menu and select &#8220;Restore this page layout&#8221; to save your current layout. <br \/>4. If you want to save your workspace, go to &#8220;Windows&#8221; and select &#8220;Store Workspace&#8221; (Store state of all dockable windows on all pages to file). <br \/>5. If you want to load your saved workspace later, go to &#8220;Windows&#8221; and select &#8220;Restore Workspace&#8221;. <br \/>6. This can be changed on Preferences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Main Menu: First menus are always available. Use this selection to change rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Individual menus: Remaining menus change depending of which room set you choose. This helps focus your work on related tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Windows panel: Here you can select windows panels for different rooms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Status Line: Pick and Snap selection method. Tool options. Change depending on which room set you choose.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/DokkLKbYBJg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Activity Bar<\/a>: this video briefly demonstrates the usage of the Activity bar in the upper right corner or vertical right on viewport (can be changed on Preferences), when you hover over it quickly expands different pallets or panels for that icon, without disturbing the overall layout of the UI.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tool type: show current selected tool.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tool Bar Options: has some common parameters based on the tool that you are using. It changes contextually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stroke modes: specifies the way that your stroke behaves from mouse click to mouse release. Several Stroke modes exist in the Stroke Panel to help control the application of Brush strokes, as well as an extensive array of spline and polygon based drawing modes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Camera and Navigation: Common to all rooms are the standard methods for displaying your scene and individual models in 3D Viewport.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tool Options Panel: as in other rooms, the upper bar contains the usual brush settings, it contains tool specific parameters and buttons. Some brushes and tools will have parameters others will not.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Left Tool Panel: all tools selection related to current room.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Statistics Line: there are statistics about the scene&#8217;s total count of vertices, faces and triangles, in addition to your current selection of objects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Layers: 3DCoat have 3 types of layers. Sculpt layers, paint layers (for paint and sculpt layers) and Curves layers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1\">3DCoat has a very intuitive and comprehensive set of controls and&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/dokuwiki\/doku.php?id=general:interface_navigation:shortcuts\">keyboard shortcuts<\/a>&nbsp;<\/em>to help you handle your workspace and 3D scenes. <br \/>We`ve tried to integrate the most common navigation conventions used in the most common 3D applications and created ways to adapt them to almost anything.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigation Bar elements<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Camera Shortcuts &amp; Navigation Presets (ie., like Maya, ZBrush or standard 3DCoat)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hotkey Navigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brush size &amp; intensity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Common UI Elements throughout the application<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>UI customization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Creating, saving, and loading hotkeys<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brush Options Panel<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strips<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2D Texture Editor<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Brush, Materials, Masks (Stencils essentially) Panels; using them in further demonstration of the 2D Texture Editor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional options in the Layers Panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>E-Panel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tool Bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Menu Bar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Preferences Panel<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"g9d1e1f8478b1\">Using a Pen Tablet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>3DCoat has been designed to work well with either a Mouse or a Graphics Tablet.
