Really streamlined and logical as it was proposed: Almost all now is split between two folders -> Data and UserPrefs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As it is logical, UserPrefs is user-created content.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data is sort of temporary stuff.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The folder in documents changed, now it is Docs\/3DCoat\/. Even if the folders structure is changed it is compatible with the previous one.<br \/>As soon as 3DCoat detects some files copied to the new location in Documents from the old one, it will convert the files to the new structure.<br \/>Also, if you install 3dcpack it will be installed correctly (except for presets that use old tools that are not present in the toolset).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1\">\n<p>So, to migrate from an earlier version you may copy folders from the old version to Docs\/3DCoat or create 3dcpack in the old version and install it using UI.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Save<\/strong>:&nbsp;Save Scene File.<br \/><strong>Save As:<\/strong>&nbsp;Save the current scene with a new file name (CTRL+SHIFT+S).<br \/><strong>Save Incrementally:<\/strong>&nbsp;Save the current file incrementally with a new name &#8211; file_001.3b, file_002.3b, and so on. <br \/>This allows you to save a history of your work, but don&#8217;t forget to delete files you no longer need because they take up disk space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"import\">File Menu &gt; Import<a href=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/dokuwiki\/doku.php?id=general:interface_navigation:file_menu#import\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image_2024-03-02_144503817.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image_2024-03-02_144503817.png 350w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/image_2024-03-02_144503817-300x285.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote has-background is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"background-color:#f1f1f1\">\n<p>When import additional objects into the scene don&#8217;t import objects with very different scales.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Import<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Model for Per Pixel Painting:<\/strong> Import model to paint directly over pixels in UV-set. This approach will give a better quality of painting over texture because of painting will be performed directly over pixels on UV-set. <br \/><strong>Import for Sculpt\/Vertex Painting\/Reference:<\/strong> Import model for vertex painting. If the model has texture it will be converted to vertex color. Also, it is a good method to import huge reference objects. <br \/><strong>Import Image as Mesh:<\/strong> There, you may create a mesh from the set of images &#8211; color, bump, Smart Material. Mesh will be ready for vertex painting. <br \/><strong>Import for AUTOPO:<\/strong> Import model for processing by the AUTOPO algorithm. The model will be converted to voxels and slightly smoothed before AUTOPO is executed. Small details might be lost. Also the mesh will be automatically closed if it has holes, so don&#8217;t try to import objects that are essentially skins and can&#8217;t be properly closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Import Multiple Objects (available on Sculpt Room):<\/strong> This command allows you to select multiple objects and choose what to do with them &#8211; import each object to the new layer, summarize into a current layer or subtract all from the current.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Model for Microvertex Painting:<\/strong> Import a model from OBJ, LWO, or FBX format. <br \/><strong>Model for PTEX:<\/strong> Import Model for PTEX. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Import Retopo Mesh:<\/strong> Import an external mesh to be used as a retopologization mesh. It is not a reference mesh, so it should be low poly! <br \/><strong>Reference Mesh:<\/strong> Import the mesh to use as a reference for the retopology tool. This mesh can be additionally deformed using the tools in Tweak room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Image Plane:<\/strong> Image Plane. <br \/><strong>Import Curve as Mesh:<\/strong> <br \/><strong>Import DICOM Slices:<\/strong> <br \/><strong>SL Objects <\/strong><strong>(available on Sculpt Room<\/strong>):<br \/><strong>Import Mesh for Voxelization:<\/strong> Import polygonal mesh to be voxelized in Sculpt room. Mesh should be closed. If it is not closed you should import it with the thickness or make it closed.<br \/><strong>Import Raw Voxel Data (available on Sculpt Room): <\/strong>Import raw voxels as a set of values inside 3D-grid. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Import Vertex Position:<\/strong> You may import positions of vertices from external mesh. You may import the entire scene or just some of the objects. This procedure compares objects by names and replaces the positions of objects with the same names. <br \/><strong>Import to Replace Geometry Only:<\/strong> Replace geometry in scene-keeping textures and layers structure.
