Import \u201craw\u201d mesh data or models with UVs intact. External models can be imported as reference meshes or for creating all new topologies ready for texturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Importing and exporting in 3DCoat is a broad topic -and encompasses specific assets which can be imported- and which can only be understood in the context of which Workspace you are importing them into. First, download the materials from the Megascan library in a format compatible with 3DCoat, such as textures or images. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/yyqCJCuNjBw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Fully Compatible With Quixel Materials<\/a>. <br \/>If you download a Quixel material into \u201cDownloads\u201d, 3DCoat will automatically notify you that new material has been downloaded and will offer you to install it as a material or shader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then, import these materials into 3DCoat using these steps: <br \/>If you download a zipped Quixel material into the default &#8220;Downloads&#8221; folder, 3DCoat will automatically notify you that a new material has been downloaded and will offer you to install it as a material or shader. <br \/>Or Import it using the command &#8220;File > Install > Install Quixel Asset as Smart Material.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once set up, you can apply these materials to your models using 3DCoat&#8217;s texturing tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"import_textures_migrate_manually\">Import Textures migrate manually<a href=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/dokuwiki\/doku.php?id=import_export#import_textures_migrate_manually\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>3DCoat 2022 has a completely new folder structure. Really streamlined and logical as it was proposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Almost all now is split between two folders &#8211; data and UserPrefs.<br \/>As it is logical, UserPrefs is user-created content.<br \/>Data is sort of temporary stuff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The folder in documents changed; now it is Docs\/3DCoat-2024\/. <br \/>Even if the folder structure is changed, it is compatible with the previous one.<br \/>As soon as 3DCoat detects some files copied to the new location in Documents from the old one, it will convert the files to the new structure.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"268\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/installextension.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2444\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/installextension.jpeg 600w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/installextension-300x134.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/installextension-18x8.jpeg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Also, if you install 3dcpack, it will be installed correctly (except for presets that use old tools that are not present in the toolset).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, to migrate from the earlier version, you may copy folders from old versions to Docs\/3DCoat-2021 or create 3dcpack in the old version and install it using UI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"video_tutorials\">Tutorials<a href=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/dokuwiki\/doku.php?id=import_export#video_tutorials\"><\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/T2jPmYyTqhQ?list=UUz7E0meXd2yMj4TKY2h0Rbg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Quick Tip: Fixing Low Polygon Mesh Imports<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/6RLhjYu1Y1w?list=UUz7E0meXd2yMj4TKY2h0Rbg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Installing Brush Alphas<\/a>&nbsp;This video is part 1 of 2 that covers the various methods of installing Brush alphas, individually or as brush packs.
