{"id":3426,"date":"2022-10-04T09:55:33","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T09:55:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/?post_type=manual_documentation&#038;p=3426"},"modified":"2023-01-12T15:39:22","modified_gmt":"2023-01-12T15:39:22","slug":"exporting-from-the-uv-room","status":"publish","type":"manual_documentation","link":"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/manual\/workspaces-rooms\/uv-workspace\/exporting-from-the-uv-room\/","title":{"rendered":"Exporting from the UV Room"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Since the UV Room may contain a number of different sets of&nbsp;<strong>UV Maps<\/strong>, first select the desired&nbsp;<strong>UV Map<\/strong>&nbsp;before proceeding with your export.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like exporting textures from the Paint Room &#8211; exporting from the UV Room involves exporting individual textures in the form of UV Maps, which correspond to Diffuse, Specular, Normal, Displacement, and Emissive texture data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the Export options found in the \u201cTextures\u201d menu as displayed below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The only remaining&nbsp;<strong>\u201cExport\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;function is found in the&nbsp;<strong>\u201cFile\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;menu, which is the same option available in the&nbsp;<strong>Paint Workspace<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<strong>\u201cExport\u201d<\/strong>, which exports a polygonal version of your model in one of the following formats &#8211; .obj, .lwo, .fbx, .stl, and .ply<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No UV Map would exist in the&nbsp;<strong>UV Workspace<\/strong>&nbsp;without first having topology created in the&nbsp;<strong>Retopo Workspace<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; having seams marked and being&nbsp;<strong>\u201cUnwrapped\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;and then&nbsp;<strong>\u201cbaked\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;into the&nbsp;<strong>Paint Room<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alex Meister:&nbsp;The first step to exporting your model is to Apply UV-set; this is very important since exporting it without pressing the button first will not save your newly created UV.<br \/>There are multiple ways to export your model; I prefer Textures \u2013 Export UV since I do my textures in another program, and I like my geometry to stay the same.<br \/>File \u2013 Export will create a High, medium,<em> or low poly that sometimes changes a few parts that you might not want it to do.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":2252,"menu_order":6,"template":"","manualdocumentationcategory":[9],"manual_doc_tag":[],"class_list":["post-3426","manual_documentation","type-manual_documentation","status-publish","hentry","manualdocumentationcategory-manual"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
