All operations may apply to current object \/ selected \/ all visible objects. <br \/>Also, retopo objects used as lowest multiresolution level should match the volume name to be able to manage multiple multiresolution objects in scene. It simplifies posing in big scenes very essentially.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"410\" height=\"147\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/addsubdlevel.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6320\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/addsubdlevel.jpg 410w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/addsubdlevel-300x108.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 410px) 100vw, 410px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>If we click yes then the multi-resolution panel will open and also you can find this panel among the Windows menu&gt; Panels tab.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"348\" height=\"184\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image-1.png?wsr\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11903\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image-1.png 348w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/image-1-300x159.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>So on this panel we see the arrows up and down (add bottom\/top level), using these arrows we can add resolutions levels. <br \/>We can see icons that appeared in the middle of the panel and the arrows that appeared at the bottom of the panel. <br \/>Use those arrows to toggle the created levels of resolution and below current level values we can use the lower arrows to switch from the lowest to the highest level or vice versa.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"143\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/multires-feature.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/multires-feature.png 800w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/multires-feature-300x54.png 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/multires-feature-768x137.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>But the most interesting thing is that if you create any complex detail at the highest level and go back to the lowest one and then go back to the highest level again I can keep the complex details even if you deform the model at the lower level, so still don&#8217;t lose the small details. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can also create a low poly mesh in the retopo room or in the modeling room and use it as the lowest level on the multi-resolution, but it is not recommended that the mesh is too low poly.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"937\" height=\"162\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/modeling-multi.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6347\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/modeling-multi.png 937w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/modeling-multi-300x52.png 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/modeling-multi-768x133.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 937px) 100vw, 937px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Now we need to press <em>add the Lowest Level from Retopo room <\/em>and we can see that the lowest level is now the one we created in the polygonal modeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Multi-Level Resolution Tutorial\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9XpeIQ_KPds?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Add Bottom Level:<\/strong> Set the bottom\/lowest Multi-Resolution level (via Decimation 2x). <br \/><strong>Add Top Level:<\/strong> Add the top Multi-Resolution level (via Loop Subdivision).<br \/><strong>Add the Lowest Level from Retopo room:<\/strong> Use the currently visible retopo mesh as the lowest multiresolution level. It is not recommended to use too low-poly mesh compared to the current one because meshes are linearly interpolated so the deformations may lead to unnecessary sharp edges.<br \/><strong>Res-:<\/strong> Step down (if possible).<br \/><strong>Res+:<\/strong> Multiresolution step up. It will not add a new level if you reach the top multiresolution level.<br \/><strong>Current level:<\/strong> switch to any created level.<br \/><strong>Bottom Level:<\/strong> Go to the lowest Multi-Resolution level.<br \/><strong>Top Level:<\/strong> Go to the top Multi-Resolution level.<br \/><strong>Remove Multi-Resolution:<\/strong> Remove the Multi-Resolution data in order to be able to change the topology of the model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old proxy mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>If you check Preferences &gt;Tools tab, now can see that the old method of caching\/proxy mode is disabled by default.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/proxy-mode.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6356\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/proxy-mode.jpg 920w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/proxy-mode-300x124.jpg 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/proxy-mode-768x318.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><br \/>If you switch it ON, it allow Proxy mode (the legacy tool) for Multi-Resolution, instead of newer Multi- Levels Based System (via Loop Subdivision).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Loop and Catmull-Clark subdivision algorithms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Loop subdivision<\/em> rules are based on triangular faces in the control mesh; faces with more than three vertices are triangulated at the start.
