This is the Blender app link (4.2, 4.3) shipped with the 3DCoat. <br \/>All changes there are automatically included in the 3DCoat&#8217;s distro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Blender portable<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have blender 4.2\/3 portable and all the config and extensions are in portable folder, the python pop-up menu warning about&nbsp;<em>data.json<\/em> not found. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do this workaround: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Created a symbolic link to where the program wanted the <em>data.json<\/em> file to be. ie&nbsp;<em>C:\\Users\\admin\\AppData\\Roaming\\Blender Foundation\\Blender\\4.3\\extensions\\blender_org\\coat_applink\\data.json<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t make the symbolic link only for the data.json file but the whole folder <em>coat_applink<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Folders for Applink<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a lot of folders for Applink. I try to clarify the dependencies in the Image. The most important file\/folders seem to be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-&gt;&#8217;documents\\3DC2Blender\\exchange_folder.txt&#8217; <br \/>-&gt;&#8217;documents\\Applinks\\3D-Coat\\Exchange\\&#8217;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-6.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10075\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-6.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-6-300x219.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-6-768x562.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Look If you have the same or similar folders. If Applink is not working, then one of the files is maybe pointing to wrong or outdated direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Open Blender and make sure 3DC Plugin is enabled. Then look on the right for scene properties. There you can set the exchange Folder, which should be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>C:\\Users\\&#8217;Username&#8217;\\Documents\\Applinks\\3D-Coat\\Exchange\\<\/em> <br \/>The other &#8216;Object\/Texture&#8217; Field can be left empty.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-7.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10076\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-7.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-7-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-7-768x432.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>4. Open 3DCoat, we take Modelling Room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>5. Back in Blender select the fancy Cube. In the 3D View &#8216;Applink Window&#8217; select &#8216;Retopo mesh as new layer&#8217; and Send.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>6. In 3DCoat you should now see the placement arrow. <br \/>Scale it Up or Down to see if something arrived in Coat and hit Apply. There should now be a new layer named &#8216;__something&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"262\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-8.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10077\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-8.jpeg 800w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-8-300x98.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-8-768x252.jpeg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>7. If you get so far then there should be &#8216;Export to Blender&#8217; under File. <br \/>If 3DCoat asks for a filename it is working. The Folder should already be &#8216;ApplinkObjects&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>8. Choose Name and use fbx format.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>9. In Blender hit &#8216;GetBack&#8217; from Retopo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>10. On new versions the last step changed a little. Before had send the mesh from Blender to 3DCoat, to get Getback applink working, you need to use this command first: File &gt;&nbsp;<em>Open in external app.<\/em><br \/>Do not use Export to Blender and then GetBack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Missing folder Applink<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>To anyone who is missing the &#8216;Export to: Blender&#8217; Button in 3DCoat 2024<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For it to work you need to have a folder called &#8216;Blender&#8217; in the Exchange folder. <br \/>Or setup Applink manually because of the portable Blender Versions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"244\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-5.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10081\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-5.png 800w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-5-300x92.png 300w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/image-5-768x234.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>Bake:<\/strong> is an empty folder <br \/><strong>extension.txt:<\/strong> contains three letters &#8216;fbx&#8217;&nbsp;without the quotes <br \/><strong>preset.txt:<\/strong> contains &#8216;Blender Cycles&#8217; without the quotes <br \/><strong>run.txt<\/strong> and <strong>texture.txt<\/strong> are both empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"parent":5057,"menu_order":1,"template":"","manualdocumentationcategory":[9],"manual_doc_tag":[164],"class_list":["post-9270","manual_documentation","type-manual_documentation","status-publish","hentry","manualdocumentationcategory-manual","manual_doc_tag-blender-4-2"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.3 -
