{"id":10232,"date":"2024-12-07T11:37:13","date_gmt":"2024-12-07T11:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/?p=10232"},"modified":"2024-12-07T11:37:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-07T11:37:16","slug":"spline-model-specifications","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/2024\/12\/07\/spline-model-specifications\/","title":{"rendered":"Spline model specifications"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Requirements for the model to be used in the Splines palette.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The model to be used seamlessly over the spline should consist of 3 objects, named as <strong>Top<\/strong>, <strong>Bottom, <\/strong>and <strong>Middle<\/strong>.<strong> <\/strong>The <strong>Middle <\/strong>object is the one that will be constantly tiled along the curve. It has vertices approximately in the range [0..1] along Y-axis. Top and bottom of the <strong>Middle <\/strong>object should be open and opposite vertices positions should differ exactly by 1 along Y. Here\u2019s an example of the <strong>Middle <\/strong>object:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"548\" height=\"407\" src=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10233\" srcset=\"https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image.png 548w, https:\/\/3dcoat.com\/documentation\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/image-300x223.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>There may be several objects named \u201c<strong>Middle<\/strong>_anything\u201d. They should get identical open edges, but in the middle the geometry may be different. 3DCoat will use random middle objects to place them along the curve.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Top<\/strong> object is placed exactly over the <strong>Middle <\/strong>object and has an approximate [1..2] range of Y-coordinate. This object is open at the bottom, the vertices should get exactly the same values as on the <strong>Middle <\/strong>top vertices. This object is open at the top, the vertices should get exactly the same values as on the <strong>Middle <\/strong>bottom vertices. If the curve is closed, only the Middle sections will be used. Open edges will be welded with nearby sections, so if you made everything correctly, the whole object will be closed.
