  1. Very nice update. Some great utility tools, bridge/handle looks useful. Some good stuff for edge loops too. Sweet.
  2. Interesting technology used here, 98% automated tech that builds 3D cities and regions from images only with accuracy to 6 inches found at fastcodesign http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqtlGNtc58g
  3. Found this tonight. I don't have an iPhone but still looks pretty cool. iPhone 4 3D ScannerUsing projected light from four different directions, an app called Trimensional, from Georgia Tech researcher Grant Schindler, will assemble a 3D scan using an iPhone 4′s built-in camera. Once you've captured a desirable visage you can optionally memorialize said countenance by outputting a watertight file and sending it to your favorite 3D printer. [viaRRW]
  4. What is the system used for these 'Groups'? What is contributor, how is it awarded?
  5. Hi, myself and Jake_H are residents of Brisbane, Queensland. 75% of the State has been declared a disaster zone. The state covers an area larger than France & Germany combined. I'm stranded near an area badly hit but no damage to home or family. I can only hope Jake is fine. Communication is obviously difficult. A tropical cyclone is developing far away in the East, so far posing no immediate threat. If you can spare any amount of money please consider donating. The official site is Donate to the Queensland floods Sadly we have just heard a flood in Brazil has claimed 170lives. Brazil floods Nature is a powerful force that has a amazingly ability to remind us we are 'only' human. Take care, Robbie
  6. I nominate this thread for "Best discussion of multiple platforms held in a constructive manner without any participants getting burnt by flames"

  10. Hey. What's the filesize for d/l of "KitBashing the SciFi Ship - Set URL: http://javisjones.co...ning/video0006/" ?
  11. Nice idea Phil. When you say you dug a trench for the zipper did you just eyeball it?
  12. Hey all, I want to expand my library of ready-made objects and was hoping someone may know a reputable source of low-mid quality/poly objects. I only require fairly average stuff as it's pretty much for 3d 'clipart' purposes destined for print assets. I would normally download free stuff from Sharecg and other sites, but it hadn't occurred to me until now that there are probably a few DVD compilations out there. Looking for Wavefront .obj format. Thanks in advance, Robbie
  13. Thanks for that. I didn't want to use Reader as it's had some security issues.
  14. Hi, using Sumatra PDF & can hardly view any of the manual text as it's very dark on dark. Is this the same in Adobe Reader?
  15. I'm sick and tired of this update thread getting all this arguing and completely non-on-topic noise. Does anyone care that the update thread should be, well - about updates? C'mon mods do your job, I'm visiting less and less now, surely this can't annoy just me? Sorry this is a little harsh please forgive the heated nature, but the basic point still stands.
  16. Not having a go at you Phil, but I don't visit much these days as this particular thread seems at times to be a free-for-all-comments at times and I just don't have the energy to sift through for update juice. Reading your response about the bug report, shouldn't this particular thread be update-related only? Ok I feel better now... carry on - nothing to see here Robbie
  17. As Andrew said they are requested to identify the issue and allow a fix. I've not once seen them requested in a manner that suggests "Prove it" There is no blame. Blame is not welcome.
  18. Hail Coaters, greetings from tropical Queensland, Australia. I'm Robbie, a 38 yr old living in a house my gal and I just built near Brisbane City. My day job is health insurance and my hobby is 3D graphics. When I was close to 18 I had a motorbike accident which paralysed my arm and resulted in chronic and phantom pain that affects me most of the time. I use my love of 3d and art for 'art therapy' as when I'm busy with a sculpt I might be lucky and forget the pain that is an unwelcome companion. (The arm was amputated some 18 years later) I like to run a few websites based on Wordpress and dabble in a bit of print-on-demand digital direct-to-garment printing also. I experimented early on with 3dCoat to create rapid-prototype real 3d sculptures via Shapeways.com. My websites are: (No intent to spam here, please contact me if object) OnearmedGraphics.com - this site is mostly a portfolio and link to products I've made at Zazzle AllergyWarningLabels.com - offers some solutions for parents of food-allergy sufferers. Painblaster.info - Chronicles my 20yr journey of life with chronic pain and phantom pain [HOST CURRENTLY DOWN. GRRR] DummiesGuidetoAdvertising.com - A simple site intended to offer a starting platform for self-advertisers. Still very new. [HOST CURRENTLY DOWN. GRRR] I also have a small PG Pinups with digital renders offered as DTG products but of respect for Andrew I won't link here. Many years ago I used an Amiga 1200 & Genlock to create real-estate videos & logos, I got to use a Silicon Graphics Indigo machine to cleanup night-footage of New Zealand Parrots attacking sheep at night by pecking at their kidneys! as well as creating a local-TV advert mimicing Terry Gilliams famous Monty Python animations. I applied for work at Weta Digital when it was founded and received a very nice rejection letter from the founders who told me to keep up the good work I still remember 3DCoat when it had just switched from the 3DBrush tag. I also want to take the opportunity to again pay respect to my online friend Brian who recently passed away. Brian was the 2nd purchaser of a 3dBrush licence and was over 70 at the time! If we can all be as cool as Brian in our old age the world would be a better place. Regards, Robbie
  19. Hi friends, one of the first users of 3D-Coat passed away Saturday night. Known here and actively on the Daz Carrara forums, Brian was a true Aussie character. I think Brian (bwtr) was user number 3 on these forums. Please join me in raising a glass to Brian in his honour. Regards, Robbie
  20. Hiya. It's good to see other mediums like this. I really like the middle one, really appeals to my abstract nature. Done using Liquify tools? Robbie
