  1. ALPHA49 freezing when toggling ortho on...fixed cutting with E panel problems....fixed gradient ghost when using transform along with akira shaders...fixed! (dx version,Gl version see below) adding with E panel ....AMAZING! The overall feeling is very much like working in a complete,finished program even if is alpha happy voxing everyone thanx Andrew! little problem:in GLversion all akira's shaders are displayed without shading a very small problem compared to all the bug fixes, EDIT:I also get a significative performance boost for some magical reasons

  4. everything can be made from scratch in 3Dcoat. I've been working only from cube and sphere so far. here are a few moves (like videogame hehe ) most of the commands are in voxtree rmb menu. BOOLEANS=you probably already know...merge to,substract from or standard merge EXTRUDE= clone object,extrude cloned object,cut cloned object with E panel, merge to source object SUBSTRACT= clone object,skin extract on cloned object,cut cloned object with E panel,substract from source object LATHE= create base shape by cutting trough cube with e panel(must be thin) ,activate axial symmetry,select Z axis, move gizmo at center of model until they are all jammed together tightly ,now at axial symmetry order setting set a crazy value like 120 ,move gizmo at center of model,at his point the polycount will be really high :don't worry press enter. it will go down a lot.Voila 3dCoat lathe! 3dCoat only needs a way to make loft object now (I know how it could be done,but Andrew got enough to work on now so I'll wait later to suggest my idea for loft objects,it is based on axial sym trick for lathe so ,Kay Eva you see you can do pretty much everything from scratch,save your objects to .3b and use merge .3b to bring them in whenever you feel like it.3DCoat is really great!

I've been having some "swapping" issues in the voxtree. meaning: I sculpt on an object in the tree then if I delete all the others object and rename the object to another name,save the file to another name now if I try merge the .3b to the previous file the object swap place with the object from which came from. to reproduce: open a AandB.3b and AlternateFromA.3b separatly just to look how they look(remembering shape difference). then open AandB.3b and use merge .3b in voxtree and choose AlternateFromA.3b now AlternatefromA object and A object should have swapped place in voxtree.
  6. ....I said reverting back to my normal video driver solved the problems.... well,now they are back(freezing on every action when enabling orthogonal view). I really don't understand. How can a problem be there and then not be there. well anyway,back to alpha47....
  7. you just forgot to download and install the cuda kit.The links is on the same page where you downloaded the cuda driver.
  8. Don't change if you don't have any problems. I had some problems that installing latest nvidia driver instead of cuda 2.1 solved but that meant loosing cuda power.So my advice is just change if you got same problems as me.
  9. alpha48 I think all my majors 3dc problems come from the interaction between my quadrofx 1700 and the cuda beta driver.Strangely toggling cuda on/off would not help resolving the issues but, now that I installed the latest nvidia driver for my card I can say: I'm having my greatest 3DCoat experience since I started.performance and fps is a little less empowering without cuda but the overall stability is greatly improved. Doesn't feel alpha at all. issues resolved 1-no more 30sec-1min freezing on every actions when toggling perspective/orthogonal 2-(still problematic)cutting with e panel works as well as alpha 47 now but strangely,only in perspective mode in ortho most of the cuts do nothing I think I installed 48simple and I was still having problemss so, it means that for me most of my problems were in the interaction between quadrofx 1700 and the cuda beta driver 2.1. Maybe it can help others with same problems if any

  12. It is more a problem than a bug.But for users in the future it might be a wall. The "change parent" submenu in the voxtree rmb menu gets quickly too long and goes even beyond the screen space even if my monitor resolution is at it's maximum,the reason for that is because it is displaying all objects in the tree regardless of the parenting.So now if I add new object to the tree they are unaccessible in the "change parent" menu,Maybe the menu should split into submenus at branch junctions like voxtree or maybee globally expand in another menu page and so on.(up to let's say 4or 5) (but spitting into submenus at branches junctions would be better for navigation I think) It would be also great if we could assign hotkeys to the voxtree functions ex:delete,clone,set a specific shader(assigning seems to work as I clearly see the hotkey being displayed beside the function but when I press the said hotkey nothing happens)
  13. quick roughing up of female jetbike rider around 200 000 polys now, I'm training myself to resist increasing res for no reasons.. It's hard because I always want to jump and add some hires details before appropriate time.

  16. Andrew, About the freezing thing when toggling perspectiive off I found out you need to cut model with E panel first for ortograhic bug to come out. (on my machine at least)
  17. thank you so much...now I can try testing alpha48 more deeply .. but I liked clay and greyclay shaders so much,they are 3DC's best sculpting shaders EDIT:haha...there is a workaround: the trick is to use the lamblight shader only when using transform, transform doesn't require a good sculpting shader,the rest of the time you can still work with the clay shader (the best cavity balance shader) thanx again
  18. sorry...I wasn't aware of your reply. I clearly remember when I tried it it didn't work it would only add resolution Don't remember which alpha tough. But I just tried it and it works fine. which means...3DCoat has is the most powerful retopology solution on earth right now Awesome!! that means retopology of Voxtree "rotated" children objects will now be possible...Supercool!!

I've been toggling perspective on/off a lot in all alphas since 42 because it is normal action when working and I didn't have any problem so far. to be more precise it's alpha48 Dx64cuda ,I coudn't test 32bit because I have cuda64x but I'll try with non-cuda before going to bed. File sent.Just the default sphere scaled on one axis. Scaling is the key action to generate the problem.(move and rotate are alright) Maybe Someone with QuadroFx1700 should also test this. anyone?....GL 64 cuda...not DX thanx

I thought I'll scatter some tips here and there in this thread just for fun 3Dcoat magic trick for decreasing resolution 1-go into the voxtree rmb menu 2-select Merge 3b file 3-navigate to this file 4-move the magic cube beside your model so it does not intersect 5-select your insanelytoomuchpolygonoverdose model in the voxtree and in the rmb menu choose "move to" and select the magic cube 7-now watch the polycount of your model ,watch the relatively good shape of your model,watch back the polycount , smile now you just need to delete the cube with the rectangle cutter in E panel Voila! EDIT:THIS TRICK IS OBSOLETE THERE IS NOW A CLONE AND DEGRADE OPTION IN VOXTREE RMB MENU>
  22. First,the fact that there is no sphere added after each load is a great relief! Also the symmetry plane is now displayed properly regardless of if inc render is on or off. I'll test quadrangualtion further today for now it seems ok on some models, bad on others (holes along symetry line,ngons)...will post pics later today. I don't how far people have played with alphah48 beside testing quadrangulation but I got a 2 major problems. Actually it is the only Alpha (I started at 42) that I cannot work with at all . 1- when I toggle off perpspective and switch to orthogonal view 3dCoat completely freeze for aprox 1minute at ANY change of settings. examples of changes :inc render on/off,multicore on/off,change camera view,select a brush ect... it happens only if I toggle perspective off,and only in DX version(Gl is fine) and I can't use the Gl version because I still got "ghost" selection when I use transform(not transpose) see the green and pink there,this never goes away,even if I save and load back 2- (most dramatic as it is my main working tool)) Substractive action with E panel does nothing( I'm aware I must hold ctrl while doing it) It only works on the default sphere. But it doesn't work if I use it on .3b files from previous alpha. Also...there is still no substractive action from "curves" implemented only closed spline(very hard to do a sheild with this), polylines (impossible to do rounded cuts) and Handraw (very hard to do rounded cuts because of hand shaking) it should be easy to do since it is (in my head) a mix of polylines and handrawn curves and both are already there. I'll stick to alpha47 for now.... but anyway,It's a great privilege to be testing this it is really the future of 3d happening
  23. more work on the dwarf (very unfinished,no details on head,clothes,armor damage ect...) 100% 3DC -no import from other apps it is a good exemple of how voxtree allows greater polycount (3-4 mil was my maximum for a single object, now I'm sure I can add objects up to 20mil...we'll see ) I got more models coming but my work pace isn't very good I'm going trough a lot of pain in my life right now and it is hard to make blank for desire to create. anyway,I'll keep updating
  24. a very small thing but I guess I need to report this... alpha47 64 cuda GL (DX didn't have this issue) when I use transform sometimes (not all the times) a selection gradient appear a stays on the model forever(meaning closing and loading back file won't help) it's the kind of selection gradient you get when you use transpose but I get it with transform I tried incremental render on/off I tried to switch to transpose and hit the clear selection button(a wild guess) but it does nothing. here is an exemple. sometimes it's more extreme like the whole model will be green or pink. I'm starting to think 90% of the problems I had so far are related to my quadrofx1700, but it just a feeling...
