  1. Hello I have been away from 3D-Coat for a while. What additional features do I get if I upgrade to the Pro version? I could not find the comparison chart. Thanks,
  2. Been a while since I was on 3D-Coat. I have been studying other tools and aspect of Game Development. Going between Zbrush 3D Coat and blender has gotten easier but I have a long way to go. This is where I am at with this character now. I will be doing some of retopo and painting in 3D-Coat like I did with the previous revision earlier in this thread. Here is video of some of my making this revision of the Game Character for my game.
  3. I'm trying to helpa friend that is employed by a video game company find a texture artist. If anybody on here is interested please PM me so I can pass contact info one. Thanks
  4. Thanks. I will remember that going forward and not run the check disk anymore. It makes since now becasue it just kept getting worse and worse. I also found out recently that seagate had been having some issues with the Barracuda hard drive initially.
  5. Thanks for all the advice I was given on this thread. I found out my hard drive a seagate 1TB SATA Baracuda was bad. I replaced it and upgraded my ram from 8 to 16 GB. all sculpting apts (3DC, ZBR, Blender) work fine now with running out of material quick or leaving cursor and menu artifacts behind. I got 50% better after the HD replacement and after the ram and updating the Nvidia driver it is all smooth. The HD I replaced it with was the same model but from a later manufacturing lot. I was having to run Check Disk and startup repair almost every day for the past few months. I'm glad to get a break. Thanks Robert..
  6. Thanks! I been studying and applying all weekend. I wish the weekend was longer. LOL
  7. I downloaded (upgraded from 2.64) Blender 2.66 the other day. it is great and even more so a great companion to 3DC with its new features. I set mine up with layouts that are almost controlled just like Maya and 3dsMax. Here is a screen shot.
  8. I just got some free one on one training via Skypr share screen from a Blender Guru. I learned how to make a control rig. Blender is going well I can model, keyframe animate, paint, rigg, weight paint, and now make a control rigg. I will be focus more back on 3D Coat and my Unity game now while always keep moving forward with 3DC, Blender and Zbursh. I rigged my 3DC project I shared earlier in this forum now I look forward to redoing that 3DC work and rigging it in Blender again. I'm loven Blender.
  9. @AbnRanger - Yea bro Blender is great!
  10. Hello My 3D-Coat Community! I have been away from 3D-Coat for two weeks so Icould learn the parts of Blender that I need for modeling, animation, and rigging. As I stated early in the forum I plan to have 3DC and Blender be the main parts of my Game Devlopment Studio anlong with Unity Game Engine. Zbrush and a few other tools are just complimentary for me. I love the before mentioned three software's more than I can do justice with words. Well I learned Blenders modeling tools better to the point do all the things that I used to only be able to do in Carras 8 and 3Ds Max. I started rigging lesson from youtube videos and now can rigg and weight paint in Blender as well. I'm comfortable in resuming my 3DC learning and work on my character further now. I needed a lot of repetition so that I would not have to relearn Blender basics everytime I open it. It was not that hard. Blender gets a bad rep for no reason. Here is brief video I made with a few tips and showing the rigg. After rigging a free character from theFree3DModels.com yesterday successfully I was able to rigg my character from start to finish in about an hour. That included the weight pain repairs. Last note. I learned how important it is is to keep the model and or retopolgy neat. The free Character I rigged in 10 minutes. MY own Character the rigging part took about 20 minutes before I moved on to weight paint it. The original Character from last year was so sloppy it could not be rigged easily at all so it's skeleton from Mixamo will stay in it forever. LOL So needless to say when I get back to work on my 3DC project, as AbnRanger suggested to me on one of the post regarding my character breastplate, I won't be cutting any corners. LOL
  11. Thanks! - This is great because I'm making a game with Unity, 3DC, and Blender as my main tools. I wanted to make very diverse colors for all the folks in it. This is a great reference, as you stated, for color picking.
  12. I think it was the time period, early 2012, that was the real impediment that kept me from getting deeper into UDK. At that time I was trying to get grasp of several aspects of game dev. Unity, that is working fine for me would have probably represented the same challenge during that period of my learning. I love the way things render in UDK and do look forward to revisiting it some day.
  13. Me 2 bro!! it has really made a difference. I make sure that I study and work in it and Blender daily now. I can't say enough about it. I look forward to seeing your Skyrim mod in Skyrim when your done. That blue suite and the guns look amazing as does the rest of the work.
  14. Thanks! I had spent a lot of time re-installing everything and fighting to get my Video Card back in the state it was before the crash. I didn't want to re install 3D-Coat yet again. Thanks a lot. Robert
  15. When I choose it it is the altered one that I made the Klingon from)-: Thanks
  16. The Leopard skin is going to be on the final Character. I have a ways to go on the texturing side. These last few weeks that I have spent learning 3DC have showed me that I can eventually get it all the way I want it. Good luck with the metroid project. I know how it is to loose files, I just had to clean my PC and re-install everything last week. Last year at one point I lost some things when a hard drive went bad..
  17. When I made a sculpt of myself as a klingon the other day I must have saved over the reference object. Is there somewhere on the site I can download that skeleton head from again?
  18. I know what you mean. I came into this a year ago expecting just to come up to speed on scripting and found my self very deep in the art pipeline and having a ball. I got most of the things I need for the game working like blowing stuff up, making the level, Controlling the Characters, and AI. Then I realized that the harder part for me was the Art and the story telling. Don't get me wrong I am no where near where i plan to be game mechanics wise but the Art side and story seen be a bigger hill to climb. It has been very educational. I feel like I learn something new every day and that opens doors to further understanding and participation in the indie Art/Game community and progress with my game.
  19. Wow those shots look great. I look forward to watching you continue with the UDK project and the other ones. I remember clicking like on the winged character. I did not realize that was you until just now(-: I like the way the dinosaur seem to almost walk out of the screen at me in the youtube video. Your game looks great in the UDK. I subscribed to your youtube.
  20. Thanks! - I like the UDK also and my son, 21 Graphic Art student, kinda urged me to learn it but Unity has been easier for me at this point because it uses c# scripting which was easier for me to pick up coming from some prior Job Related Ansi C programming. I hope to do something with the UDK someday. I agree the 3DC retopo tools are very intuitive and easy to work with. I have had a ball this past few weeks learning them and using them. I look forward to seeing some of your UDK stuff.I am a fan of Turok 64. I still have my Nentindo 64 and some my kids and I on rare occasion still play four player Golden eye on it. I look forward to seeing your remake.
  21. Thanks for the encouragement. They have 3D printer at work and I can print something. I might have to buy or pay for the printing material. I will try that. This the forum link that has the development of the version 2 of my main Game Character that I have been working on in 3DC. I have two game projects. One is a RPG/Tomb Raider type set in a Fantasy World that the character gets ported to. The other game is a 3rd person shooter Mass Effect type style game that will also use the same character and others. The good people on the 3DC forum gave me a lot of pointers that help make progress on my main Character retopo wise, texture painting wise, and much more but I still have a ways to go and I'm loving the journey. http://3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10879&st=40
  22. @OrinDoon Hunter Thanks! I'm thinking about doing a FBM. I had originally just did this to practice 3D-Coat but then I got to thinking if I finish everything I start whether it is for my video game or not I'll get better at using these tools. @Tony Nemo - LOL
  23. http://bit.ly/RLmMK3 Made the ridges more like Star Trek the Next Generation era Klingons. LOL Guess I needed a break for second from working on the Game Character for my video game.
