  1. Here's a quick example I made with making a glass like surface. The one thing I can't figure out is if there is a way to create refraction. If anyone knows how, I would really appreciate hearing any suggestions. Thanks.
  2. Looks like the 3dc_maya applink works in Maya 2020, but I'm not able to get it working in Maya 2022. Anyone having any success with the 3dc to maya applink in Maya 2022? Thanks!
  3. I'm using Maya 2022, but I'm having trouble loading the 3dcoat applink plugin. Is anyone aware of what the latest working version of the applink I should be using. I'm using 3dcoat applink for maya version 2.2.2. Is there a newer or more recent one? Thanks!
  4. You might try applying a mask on Layer 0 to reduce the opacity, and then in your actual texture layer apply a reflective material. Usually, Layer 0 holds the overall opacity for the object. Here's a good video that shows this. He does what I mentioned above with the window in the door. Hope it helps.
  5. Thanks for clarifying. That makes sense. Something that I ended up doing is creating a hot key for my most used brushes, and I use Ctrl+E to quickly switch to my eraser. This doesn't solve your problem but might help to create a temporary workaround. Similar to how there are predefined functions like Ctrl and Shft to invert and smooth, it might be nice to have a Ctrl+Shft to act as an eraser, that way your alpha will be the same as the brush tools alpha. Might be a nice feature to suggest. Cheers!

  9. Not sure if this is at all helpful, but on my Surface book 2, I have both an integrated graphics card and a dedicated gtx 1060 card. For 3d coat, I set up my Nvidia control panel to only use the gtx 1060 when I run 3d coat. Now I'm not sure if you have that option, since I was doing this through the Nvidia control panel, but maybe Radeon has a similar control panel where you can ensure that you are using the dedicated graphics card. Not sure if this helps but thought I would throw it out there. Good luck, I hope it gets figured out! Cheers!

  11. BTW, this issue only happens when sampling from an image. It seems to work perfectly with the color bars options, if that's at all helpful.

  13. Hmmm..I tried only enabling the pick from screen option and I get the same result. Do others get a different result?
  14. Thanks Carlosan! That's good to know, I didn't realize that option existed. Do you know if there's a way to copy the brush behavior from one alpha to another. for example lets say I set some brush options for one alpha, and then realized I wanted to apply those options to other brush alphas? currently, I have to manually re-enter the brush options per alpha by hand. Anyway to copy brush options from one alpha to another? Thanks!
  15. Here's something interesting. If I open the color palette through the tools side color swatch, it opens a floating color palette window, which seems to work correctly. But if I dock the window, it doesn't sample the colors correctly. Here's a quick video showing this behavior. To me it still feels like a bug, and doesn't feel intuitive to have to hit the "V" key to sample a color each time while the window is in a docked state, but rather I would like to just left click and go, which is the behavior I see if the window is floating. I want to be respectful of others opinions so I this might just be a personal preference for my working style. Thanks again! 3DC color picker.mp4
  16. Thanks, Carlosan. I still get the same behavior, but I just realized that this only happens when you sample from an image. It's perfectly fine if you sample from the color bars. Does that seem odd or is that expected? Thanks for the continued help by the way!

Gotcha.. that works if you have a physical keyboard, but when I work with my surfacebook 2, I turn thee screen around so it's like a Cintiq but I have to keep switching to my onboard keyboard every time to hit the "V" key, which doesn't really work well for those who also work with portable tablet like devices. Anyway just a thought.
  18. Hmmm.... This feels like a bug to me. if I hover over the image and hit "v" on the keyboard it's correct, but if I click with my mouse its incorrect. Thanks @Elemeno that's a good workaround for now!

  21. Hi, I'm trying to pick colors from the Color Palette using an image that I loaded. I'm zoomed in to an area to pick colors from, but it seems to not return the color that I'm hovering the mouse pointer on. It feels like there may be a miss alignment or something else going on.   22. Hi All, Does anyone know if there's a way to apply the brush options from one brush to another brush? For example, I created some brush alphas for a more painterly effect, and part of that is in how I'm applying the brush options to the alpha. The issue I'm bumping into is that I would like to apply the brush behavior to multiple alphas at once, and I can't seem to figure out how to do it, so I end up having to go one by one to each alpha to apply it. The other reason I would like to be able to apply it the brush options is so I can apply it to different brush tools, like the [Brush, Airbrush, and even the Eraser]. Does anyone know if this is possible? if not I think it would be a nice feature to have, as it could enhance the user experience. Thanks for any help of info on this! Cheers.
  23. Thanks to @Silas Merlin from the Discord server. To remove the gray haze, I pointed out in the video when working in the node graph, just uncheck this option. This was so helpful. Might be nice to have this off by default, but at least you can choose now.
  24. Hi, I hope someone finds this helpful. I've been looking everywhere for a tutorial for working in Nodes within 3d coat, but I can't find much out there, so I tried to make one. From one beginner to another :-) Also if you see that I'm doing this incorrectly or if you have suggestions for better ways of doing them, I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
