  1. lol...it wasn't working the other day when I tried it either, but works now, like you said...now I wish Andrew would provide us with a way that we could send him a donation at least (of whatever amount whoever felt moved to donate could afford) for such a great program as this tree generator ,,like maybe a paypal address , etc.?

    What a wonderful idea...!!!!

  2. So, will you have the 3DC webinar that you guys hosted back in October, which you mentioned on this site...available on your own webpage? Also, what has become of those monthly webinars?

BTW, I bought your DVD a while back and hope to see a follow up title...something along the lines of "Intro to 3DC."

What I like about those types of DVD's is that there is always something an intermediate or advanced level user can find that they missed or just didn't know. That's what I like about sites such as digitaltutors.com, vtc.com, lynda.com, etc. You can pass over the areas you're comfortable with and cherry pick the areas you want to focus on. That's a bit hard to do with a 20hr sculpting session.

While I'm glad you went through the trouble to go through the whole sculpting process, I still think that a comprehensive look at 3DC, maybe a 5-20hr DVD would be much more in demand, and your sales would grow as the program grows...especially if you added "What's New in v3.x" at certain intervals, so that it stays relatively current, and you could sell the amendments as downloads for a small fee...so those who bought the original can take advantage of those.

Yeah... JJ's webinarsare fun and I learn quite a bit... I attended one or two Javis put on with Kurv and the one in October...

  3. It's a 500gb Seagate SATA drive just a little over an year old... It won't power on so I can't even run the Seagate Tools... I tried it in another computer and also in an external hard drive case and it's dead. I phoned Seagate and they are sending a replacement drive and instructions on how to send them the failed drive...

I back up my digital photos (mostly cars & hot rods - autos are my real passion), digital art to an external 1.5 tb Seagate so I was able to restore most of my stuff...

Great DVD. Look forward to more... I'm not a strong 3D modeller, dabble in Wings3D & Hexagon. Use Vue for rendering... I do mostly 2D stuf with Corel Painter and Corel Paint Shop Pro...so your DVD was a God send... So easy to follow you... I've enjoyed your past webinars as well....

When I retire in a few years (I'm soon to be 56) I'll look forward to doing more 3D stuff... As well as more hot rodding with my own hot rod...(60 Vette)...

Cheers & all the best in 2010

  4. AbnRanger - I was aware you could bring a low poly model into 3DC but I thought that was only for painting and sculpting? I wasn't aware you could bring the low poly into Voxels? I'll have to try this when I get home...

Bottom line Javis is the man for 3DC tutorials....

I also looked at the DVD at Kurb by L.J. Bamforth on Advanced Retopology and UV but thought the tutorial was based around 3DC ver 2.0? Also I'm more of a newbie than advanced. So if it is ver 3.0 I may look at this DVD at a later date... I watched a free Kurv webinar by L.J. on sketching/cartooning and he's awesome....

  5. On the weekend I picked up from Kurv Studios Javis Jones's DVD on 3DC's Voxel tools... All I can say is WOW... This DVD is worth every penny and then some... I'm really enjoying the DVD and Javis's wacky/dry sense of humour is priceless...

I'm looking forward to anymore DVDs, tutorials or webinars from this talented artist....

While I was watching the DVD I fired up 3DC and was voxelling along with Javis (abeit at a much slower pace), unfortunately the 500gb Seagate drive I was saving my work to crashed... :-( So I'll have to restart...

    Cheers

  6. When I attempt to launch the directx version of 3DC ver 3 I get the error that d3dx9_30.dll is missing. The gl version runs fine. I never had this problem when I was using Windows XP Pro 32 bit but yesterday I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit. I'm now installing all of my apps...

    So far only Curvy3D 1.5 and 3DCoatdx ver 3 are complaining.... ;-)

I know directx 11 is installed as I can run dxdiag and it reports to be fine. I know this is a directx 9 file but don't know how to resolve...

    Thanks kindly

    Ken

  7. Look at the first post on the first page of this thread for updates as Andrew refreshes it when there is a new build. This is similar to how things work for beta releases as well. If you scroll down through the post you can see the different builds, what was changed/added/fixed, and the latest release for download.

    http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=3594&st=0

There SHOULD be a link to the thread via the main page IMHO or something linking to the file. Maybe a link to the most recent major/stable build and one to the latest build?

Thanks...just downloaded it and installed after watching tonight's NHL hockey game.... Now I have the toothpaste & muscle...

    Again thanks....

  8. Enjoyed the webinar Javis. :good:

Really cool that Andrew was in attendance. :yahoo:

Thanks JJ for the webinar... I always enyoy them... In the future could you have webinars that are aimed at 3DC newbies... I've been using Wings3D and e-on's Vue for 6 years or so... I have also dabbled with Hexagon and Cinema4D but feel more at home in 2D environments like Corel Painter and Paint Shop Pro... I've lusted for years after ZBrush after playing with various trial versions of ZB... When I caught wind of Curvy3D and later 3DCoat I knew I had to purchase these two... I'm slowly learning Curvy3D but 3DCoat seems to be a little steeper learning curve... Even IMHO steeper then ZBrush (once you get used to the quirky ZB ui)...

Thanks again it was a very enjoyable and enlightening 2 1/2 hours... Pretty cool Andrew was in the shadows but sounded he had his hands full with his kids...

    Cheers & many thanks

  9. The time is 0800 PDT, and 1500 GMT on a Saturday morning. If you work that day I am sorry, but I can't accommodate every single timezone.

Yikes... I was confusing this with one from Kurv... Sorry... I signed up last night... Looking forward to it.. Enjoyed your prior webinars...

Will I receive instructions via e-mail how to connect to the webinar? The only e-mail I did receive was from Paypal acknowledging payment...

Thanks and keep up the great work...

    Cheers

  10. Its getting to be a big problem on both sides.

Fwiw when I downloaded the 3.9gb file I am on a very fast connection able to download win 7 from microsoft in minutes BUT from kurv I downloaded the file once and it was slow. 300kbps for downloading 3.9gb would probably mean it would be slower on other peoples connection and a download as big as that would be better in ftp. I dont know how the resume works from kurv I haven't tried downloading and pausing and resuming again but whenever I downloaded something from the net and closed firefox it would not resume but restart the download from scratch.

Anyway I started watching vid 1,2. Very clear quality!! For 20hrs fit into 3.9gb I'm very pleased. I'm sure I'll learn many functions I never knew in voxels.

I've downloaded Linux distros that were DVD iso and never had an issue... I hate to say it but this is the FIRST time I've had an issue like this....

And for what it's worth I know the frustration of stuff like this as I support Novell Netware and SUSE SLED OE servers for a living... Sometimes even the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry as John Stienbeck wrote...

  11. 5 days past. I'm still waiting for your solution kurv. My only goal is to get the tutorial, others I've no interest.

I've asked 3 times if a temporary FTP account is possible, but you just ignore it and say other things.

OK I can wait much longer if you are too busy.

    :)

As a sign of good faith and in the interest of good customer relations Kurv should at least offer to ship us the DVD and they pay for the shipping.... I really do not think that is asking too much.... I was hoping to have the download before I went on vacation but I'm too busy and frustrated with Kurv's server problems....

I think IF they really want to retain us for future and long term customers they should give this a strong consideration.... It is often the lengths a vendor will go to develop good customer relations that helps create a loyal following....

Sorry Wes but how this ends up is totally in your court.... No more unworkable links for me.... As I said I leave shortly for vacation and have more urgent and pressing matters to attend to....

    Cheers

    Kenmo

PS: I can assure you the problem is not at my end.... I've download iso's in the past that where 4.5 gigabytes without a hitch....

  12. Sorry... I thought I was posting about the same video... DOH...my mistake....

Just downloaded the file and it still won't open... I'm tired of being a beta tester for your problems.... I'll ask once more... Please give me a solution that works... I finished wasting my time...

If you want to retain me as a customer do the proper thing and give me the product I paid for...

Sorry I'm not meaning to be rude but enough is enough....
