  1. Hi, thanks for that input. thus, I think this would be great to have. Both for voxel modeling ( adding / subtracting details ) and also for texture painting. I'm not sure if this was asked for before, depending on this, I'll have to repost this in the wish list.. m.
  2. Hi Andrew. It's been some time, but I would like to get back to this. I finally updated to version 4. Would it be possible to post the complete code to do the following steps automatted to I can just run it? I would like to get a starting point since I only have experience in MEL and Python, nothing really C++ alike. You also said in the posts above that some functionality was added, so I don't know the best approach anyway.. What I would like to do is the following: I have 2 objs, one is voxels to be added, one is to be subtracted. [1) create a new empty scene] 2) Define the two file paths as strings 3) Rename the default voxel layer and set it's resolution to e.g. '8x' 4) Load obj 1 and add the voxels to the layer 5) Load obj 2 and subtract the voxels from the layer (maybe this needs to be done with a second layer?) 6) Remove enclosed holes 7) Convert the voxels to a surface Add a procedural surface noise (if possible) 9) export the surface to an obj file with a specific name 10) create a new empty scene Please let me know.. Thanks! Matt
  3. Hi, I seached a bit on the forum, but did not really find something fitting. I may have missed it. Is it possible in 3DCoat to use volumetric noises to edit/displace voxels to add surface noise? Any input welcome! Thanks, m.
  4. Hi ! Is it possible in 3d coat to do the following ? let's say I have a textured wooden box in .obj. now I import it into 3d coat, convert to voxels. -> now I'd like that the voxel object is automatically assigned the same colors as the original obj material had. ( this may include setting up textures first, with pTex, .. ) now, I'd like to be able to keep adding the same box, and volumetrically add volume, where the new parts keep getting textured accordingly 'on the fly'. is this possible ? please let me know .. thanks, matt
  5. Hi, I'm interested in the angelScript functionalities. Is it possible to automattedly import geometries, e.g. tons of cubes and use them to add / remove voxels from a model ? e.g. start with adding a series of cubes for a building facade, then cut out the windows, .. reason I ask is because I'm interested in combining voxels with standard procedural modeling techniques. ( not Houdini .. ) let me know. matt
  6. ah sweet, hey guys ! i already feel home !
  7. hi ! i just started this new thread .. as possibility to say hello. * * * i downloaded the 3dcoat 3.0 alpha demo yesterday and i must say it's taken a few years that finally my wish of voxel-based sculpting became true. finally ! * * * i have studied architecture at the ETH in zurich, switzerland, i've been at the GNOMON school of visual effects for 6 months (2 terms) and i've been doing 3d since around 1992. my favourite renderer is maxwell, though i'd like to learn renderman soon ! some work: http://web.mac.com/matthias.buehler/iWeb/W.../portfolio.html http://web.mac.com/matthias.buehler/iWeb/W...ite3/reels.html http://web.mac.com/matthias.buehler/iWeb/W.../knowledge.html matt
