  1. Hi Digman. Start with a basic cube in surface mode and increase the resolution (resample the poly count to 1.4 or 1.5 million ). Select the Live Clay tool from the LC menu and start building up a corner using the second solid white brush (give it a good build up multiple times). Select Surface smooth, work the corner and the holes will appear (at least on my system). I'd like to know if non Nvidia users have these issues to determine if they are graphic card related. My system specs: Win 7 Pro 64bit Intel Core i7 3770K, Ivy Bridge, 3.5GHz, Quad Core 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz NVidia GTX 660ti 2GB
  2. I'm hoping they fix this soon as 3D Coat will become a serious alternative to zbrush once they solve this issue. Especially with the price difference between the 2 programs.
  3. Yeah I've been enjoying the Live Clay tools, guess I'll have to move back to voxels till it's fixed.
  4. Yes the same is occuring in the DX version. I've attached 2 pics one showing the original file in DX plus a new project in DX both having the hole problems.
  5. Mesh Collapse and holes still occuring in the latest beta 6B (64bit CUDA) See pic. I've tried on my original file plus new projects from scratch and the same occurs. My system specs: Win 7 Pro 64bit Intel Core i7 3770K, Ivy Bridge, 3.5GHz, Quad Core 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz NVidia GTX 660ti 2GB
  6. Cheers Digman, I'm using the recent 6.11.2012 BETA5 where the bug occured. Can't wait for the next release now, I'm loving the Live Clay tools.
  7. I'm now using the new Beta and Vox Pinch is currently working ok. But my official Steam install is still without a working pinch. Also enjoying the Beta's Live Clay tools too much now so I won't be using the old steam version till the new release.
  8. Hi, I've found an issue in the new 64bit Beta (V5) where small holes are being made in the model when using Live Clay and Surface tools. I was working on a fish model and when trying to smooth the fin (using surface smooth) small holes in the model appeared. I tried to fix them with the Reconstruct tool but as I started to use the tool, and before applying, small black dots appeared. When I pressed the apply button 3DCoat then crashed (did not respond to any input). My system specs: Win 7 Pro 64bit Intel Core i7 3770K, Ivy Bridge, 3.5GHz, Quad Core 16 GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz NVidia GTX 660ti 2GB
  9. Hi everyone, Andrew contacted me and showed me how to use/transfer the Steam serial to the Beta, for anyone else in the same situation just follow the instructions below:
  10. Hi, I'm using the Steam version of 3DCoat and have downloaded the new Beta. Where can I find my Steam License/Serial to turn the 30 day trial Beta into a Full version? I tried request serial/license from this site but it says my email address was not found in the database???
  11. Interesting, I've reinstalled from Steam and still get the same issue? Guess I can live without pinch for a bit till Version 4 comes out.
  12. Hi Carlosa, a new project was the first thing I tried, and the radius and resolution change change made no difference. Am now reinstalling from Steam so a fresh install should reset everything.
  13. Tried everything I can think of, played with different settings, and it's still not working, it shows the yellow circle that can be resized but no pinching happens? Have also tried the other 32 bit versions both DX and CUDA and still no Vox Pinch. Probably overkill but I'll uninstall 3D Coat and redownload it from steam.
  14. Hi, for some reason my Voxel Pinch tool has stopped working, all my other tools work fine even the Surface Pinch works so I don't know how to address this issue. I'm new to 3D Coat and hope its some setting I've accidentally messed up as it has been working fine the past couple of weeks. Has anyone else had any similar tool issues and if so how did you resolve them? I'm using the 64bit Cuda 3.7.18S version (purchased on Steam) on Win 7 Pro.
  15. Hi 3DCNC, I'm currently using Deskproto for generating all my toolpaths and writing GCode for NC Studio...http://www.deskproto.com/ I considered the Vectric suites but Deskproto meets all my need so far, I'm hoping to move to Aspire at a later date, as it seems a good all rounder (but a tad expensive). Most of my modeling is created in Blender 3D and Moi3D (Nurbs surfaces) with stl. export, I recently discovered 3D coat on Steam and am exploring it's capabilities. Similar question back at you...What about your cnc workflow? how do you implement 3D Coat into your design methods and integrate it with your cnc output? Simon.
  16. Hi, this is a feature request to lock specific axis during sculpting. I am operating a 3 axis cnc mill (X,Y,Z) to produce relief 3D models, but I need to raise reliefs on the Z axis only (the Z axis being the Vertical movement of the machine spindle), so I don't get any undercuts that affect the X and Y toolpaths. I am currently using Blender 3D for basic poly modeling and sculpting, it allows me to lock any axis during sculpting and I am hoping 3D Coat can be developed to include a similar feature. I understand there is a undercut removal feature in 3D Coat but by isolating the Z axis to begin with would make my modeling experience faster and more time effective for cnc output. Simon.
  17. Thanks Digman, I'll have a look at that remove undercut feature, I'll also request a lock axis option for future updates as it would allow me to model faster and more efficiently for cnc output. Simon.
  18. Hi all, Originally posted this in the New User's forum, but as there are no responses am trying here instead. I've recently purchased 3D Coat on Steam and would like to incorporate it into my workflow. I am operating a 3 axis cnc mill (X,Y,Z) to produce relief 3D models, but I need to raise reliefs on the Z axis only, so I don't get any undercuts that affect the X and Y toolpaths. Is there any way in 3D Coat to isolate the Z axis during Voxel sculpting to give me the clean modeling I require? (the Z axis being the Vertical movement of the machine spindle). I am also using Blender 3D for basic poly modeling and sculpting, it allows me to lock any axis during sculpting and I am hoping 3D Coat will be the same (albeit with more powerfu tools). By isolating the Z axis, as is possible in Blender, any sculpting brushes only work on the locked axis therfore preventing model undercuts that the cnc toolpaths can't calculate and machine on a 3 axis mill. Hoping for a reply, Simon.
  19. Oops, please delete one of my threads as I didn't know if the first one posted correctly so I made a second titled 3 axis cnc.
