Thank you Andrew. I ended up just quandragulating it and taking the mouse into another 3D program to add shaders. It will be a project for the grand children - story book illustrations. Thank you very much for making 3D so much fun!

Trying my hand at constructing a cartoon mouse in Voxel. Lot more fun than I thought as the shaders lend themselves to a good contrast of colors. Had to stop not only because it was late, but when I was doing the pants, my mouse stopped working on resizing. Couldn't figure out why until I made a screen shot and titled the jpeg, then found my CAPS lock was on. Sure enough, that was the culprit. The question I had, if I want to save these shader colors for export to an OBJ format, what is the best way to do that? I really like the shader colors and the way the light interacts with them.

Would this be like a Voxel Mask?

3D-Coat 3.1 updates thread
T.H. ROCK replied to Andrew Shpagin's topic in New Releases, Bugs Reports & Development Discussion
Perhaps when Andrew is satisfied that 3DC is a complete tool that needs just some minor tweaks, he can start on Andrew-mation. a fully functioning plug-in interface for major 3D apps to and from 3D coat. -

heh heh I just got the new Zbrush update and thought wow, pretty neat. Then, I came back to this forum and notice what you had done with the curves tool. Not being the brightest crayon in the box, I slapped my forehead and said to myself - "Geez, Andrew already made this in 3DC and I didn't even see it!." Thanks for the heads up - my brain doesn't move very fast until it gets to the edge, then freefall discovery is quite rapid. -
Reading forum posts... g'day to you

Difference between Pilgway and Nevercenter

Dunno friend, I only know that I've managed to crash every piece of software I've used, including notepad. -

Yeah, I hear you. I tried Silo, but stuck with Hexagon and Lightwave3D. On the earlier version of Hexagon, I was crashing multiple times with a dual core AMD processors and 6600 NVIDIA card. Now that I have a Quad core 6600 intel and NVIDIA 8800, I hardly ever crash unless I do something stupid. In fact, when I first got Hexagon, I could barely keep it running without crashing. I keep a feather duster near my computer desk for bashing things - it helps alleviate the stress and clears furniture of adherent dust. -

I'm far from being a good modelere and only have been in 3D about 3 years part time, so very much a newbie. But I've concluded, it's not necessarily the program, it's the user who makes things work. Just looking around at the pro techniques on this forum convinces me that effort and practice, along with sustained comprehensions makes up for any shortcomings. -
Strictly amateur stuff, but it sure is fun! Part of a 3D scene of a Chinese fishing village. The Temple Dragon which acts as a guardian for the fishing village is my first, voxel to per pixel attempt (well, first that I would show anyone.) Still haven't figured out a lot of stuff and need to retopologize it. Lost some sharpness on it when it was retopologized (teeth and nails are not sharp any longer) Rendered in Carrara 7 Pro. Anyway, a great hobby and just fantastic for us amateur, untrained wannabe artists.

No joy. For some reason the system won't let me downgrade to 9_38DLL When I check DXDIAG after installation, it still reads DX 10.

Okay, I'm thinking CUDA is faster and have zero experience with it. Have a 8800 GT Video Card, just updated the drivers. DX 3DC doesn't load with it (V.10 DX on the card) (but loads with GL) I downloaded the CUDA drivers, but get a warning that the driver is older than my current driver. Suggestions? Comments? I'm old - talk slowly.

DVD (Voxel Sculpting Characters) Release Discussion thread
T.H. ROCK replied to Javis's topic in General 3DCoat
Maybe I'm just lucky, but it was a straight forward process for me. I purchased the software, downloaded and it installed on the first try. Plus, I'm an old geezer as well - if that counts. -

Got the Videos at tutorial in a download the same day I ordered - couldn't wait for the DVD. Am enjoying the videos and glad you left the mistakes in there as I make plenty of them and need to know the work arounds. Great stuff! Very interesting to see others work flow as well. -
Is 3DCoat "only" a basemesh solution for some users?
T.H. ROCK replied to Taros's topic in General 3DCoat
I've crashed a few times on my modest 4gb quad computer, but for the most part I'm really enjoying 3DCoat. Thank you so much Andrew for your dedication in bringing this software to market! I might comment that the advantage of re-topology, which by the way is a fantastic innovation, gives the user the ability to input modestly sized meshes with full implementation of normal or displacement maps to give that high poly look is indeed the way to go. Right now, I'm having more fun than a kitten in a box a yarn.
