  1. Thanks Psmith! That's fantastic, I must try this approach Cheers, Galen
  2. Ok, This might be a stupid question, but if I follow the video tutorial and use ptex format to apply my texture, then bake the texture for import into my game engine (Unity), am I still going to have to manually tweak the UV maps for high detail areas to avoid severe loss of detail? Cheers, Galen
  3. Ok, got it... 3D Coat likes PNG, and TGA files... Now another question arrises, The painted image looks very poor quality, is there a way to lay down the image just as it appears in the material/image along spline setup view? Thanks, Galen
  4. I've seen those options, and that made sense, but only images that came with 3D Coat and are in the texture folder of my 3DCoat installation seem to work (and my images still won't work if I copy them into the textures folder). Is there something I need to do with the images to get them to work? Is there a specific format that 3D Coat is looking for? I'm using the Mac version if that makes a difference. Thanks, Galen
  5. Hi all, This may be noob of me, but ... is it possible to import an place a image on a model that is setup for per pixel painting? I want to take an image an place it correctly on the model's texture map. Thanks, Galen
  6. Thanks for the replies folks! right now I'm working on better textures for my iPhone game, so lean is best Normal maps maybe fine if I do other things, but morphing the mesh... well polys are not an iPhone's friend  Those responses cleared it up! Thanks again, Galen
  7. @artman - Thanks! is .obj a better supported format in 3DC? Or, more importantly, are there preferred/better formats to use? Thanks, Galen
  8. Ok, So this is a complete noob question , but... if I'm doing texturing in 3DC, and I use depth, is that the illusion of depth, or am I altering the mesh? Thanks, Galen
  9. Hi all, I'm trying to use 3D-Coat with a model I did in Cheetah 3D. It's a relatively simple model, low poly count. I did the UV maps of the objects in the file in Cheetah, then exported as a FBX file. However, when I import the file into 3DC I don't seem to be able to see the normals. The model is there, shape is correct, and shows clearly in the UV view (however the UV maps from Cheetah seem to be only partially present). Has anyone tried this combination before? Is there something I need to do special for this pipeline? Should I use a different export (like 3DS, or something else)? Thanks, Galen
