  1. It's been a while. I've migrated computers twice since I last posted. Much better now, since I can finally render and use microverts :p
  2. That is, when game engines support it. Great idea in general, only each ptex texture can only work specific to one model. I'm also not sure how it works with triangles.
  3. Isn't it just projection based like blender's auto-mapping?
  4. This is true. You can't add any points to the curve itself without adding the points to the middle and dragging the sides out. http://www.screencast.com/t/N2JjZjc1 As you can see, you can't go back to a curve and extrude as easily as before.
  5. When I click the "closed" button, there doesn't seem to be any way to un-close a curve once you've clicked the button, other than undoing (maybe it should be a checkbox). Is there one? Like a way to delete segments?
  6. What? Fn is a modifier key, and what's more, only laptops have it.
  7. But it's not a button or tool, it's an extension to the select tool! I can't define that hotkey.
  8. Perhaps normal map layers should be treated differently when painting. As in, depth brush will change the normal map and not its depth channel, and color brush doesn't do anything so you can't screw it up.
  9. There is no CUDA for mac. So take that out of the equation.
  10. Well, the ATI card costs 300 dollars more.
  11. I'm getting a new computer soon, and the ATI Radeon HD 4670 is apparantly four times faster than the Nvidia card I could buy it with. My current graphics card is crap, but will ATI in general have any compatibility issues with 3d Coat? Or the majority of programs out there? Which one is more widely used?
  12. I have one. It is so laughably unbelievably unstable and crashes at the simplest tasks, despite being brand new, that I decided against buying it for that computer.\ How do I define hotkeys though? I know the END command, but it only works if you're hovering over a button, and there is no button for INSERT or anything associated with that key.
  13. And in edge mode, it says you can split rings with INSERT... what do they mean? I have no insert key!
  14. I've made some progress with horns and a mouth set up for teeth...
  15. I have given him horns and tried to grow the body. I've run into a LOT of bugs, especially regarding the symmetry plane. I hate how it moves around. Suddenly the default position is a little to the right, now it's a little left, and that started when I added more voxel objects for each part, like a jaw. Oh yea, and I've given him a separate jaw so that I can put in some teeth.
  16. Well, neither do I, so I guess I'll take any advice I get :/
  17. His limbs are still in the factory. How does it look so far?
  18. I agree with this 100%. The zoom right now isn't even any slower if you're trying to zoom in on something close. You can fly right through.
  19. My pinkie skin turned to a glassy substance and crumbled off (the skin, that is).
  20. You could do something like 3d pixels... each voxel space has a color, so on higher resolutions it's like microvertex painting except directly on the voxel.
  21. Me too! And perhaps an automatic unwrapping method that doesn't involve projection, as that generates so many seams.
  22. That was over a month ago, any other news on this? That sounds amazing! I'm all for ways to control quadrangulation. Perhaps by drawing some closed shapes in the general areas you want loops to be or something, and letting it work from that. That way quadrangulation of sharp edges won't result in that jagged diagonal quad problem.
  23. 3d coat isn't supposed to be that sort of software, is it? It's just for creating textured models. Before it gets a game engine I'd like to see an armature animation system perhaps. Maybe it will end up a full 3d suite itself, who knows.
  24. Download like a pirate bay day. Yarrrr. (No, I've never pirated software)
