  1. Hello, I keep having the same problem. I have downloaded the license file, and it's in the same directory as 3dcoat. Every time it opens it asks for the license. I click the 'Use license' button and it's right here in the directory.
  2. I have exactly the same thing happening with the update manager. Also, when installing an updated version, do I need to uninstall the previous, and what about the license? Do I de-authorise and then install, then tell it where the license is, or do I just uninstall but leave it activated with my current license? *Edit: it worked the third time with download manager.
  3. Thank you. It's a shame that it doesn't detect the plug-in and check it's valid to be imported, displaying a nope! type message instead of doing what it did. I was unaware of this until reaching this difficulty. I'm sure that others may well have encountered a similar difficulty with auto-import before the software has even been activated with a license.
  4. It was a clean install. With no old folders that I could find. Any old folders in documents I renamed as _old so they wont be read, as I always have. It's the install of the artman pack which seems to be the problem, because I restarted and tried again with the same little dialogue popping up. I selected only artman and it crashed again at the same point. I tried again, restarting my computer once more, restarting 3Dcoat, I told it 'No' this time and it works fine, it loaded and it's sat here now as I type, ready for polygon hefting. It must be something in the art pack that it doesn't like which causes it to die horribly.
  5. Hi, it's certainly a sunny day outside, and here I am, hoping to use my shiny 3Dcoat 2021. Just upgraded from V4 and, well. There was a slight case of crashing, which I reported. The thing is though that now it only crashes. The initial problem occurred when I first ran the newness. It popped up as expected, but then it detected that I had previous things downloaded, it was specifically the artman pack with objects to make space-ships and what-not, and there was something else I didn't recognise that was listed as 'Toggle..' something or other. Now when I try to load 3D coat it wont open, it just goes straight to the crash dialogue. So how can I make it work without the crashiness? As I say, it did it the first time until it died. The screen was there in the background behind the request for my log in and over the top of that, the import progress that failed. It all looked so promising. Now I have to sit here without any joy in my life. The sadness of a digital artist is made manifest. lol
  6. Thank you for your responses. I am just downloading it now. I will see what magic I can make happen.
  7. Thank you. Can you recommend a video or some such showing how I would achieve this effect with the warp tool please? All the ones I find do more of a radial or helical type effect.
  8. ...in the 3Dcooat forums, so I came here instead. It wont let me create a post there. Anyway, hi. One thing I've been searching for, but have been unable to find is: how do I create a spiral without using the curves tool? Posts usually end up talking about helical shapes instead of spirals. I wanted to create a snail shell type of thing, but made of overlapping plates, with exposed 'bottom' edges flanged, but I can't even satisfactorily crate a spiral that allows so many of the initial model to be placed along it without them joining into one snake like object, which is what I get if I try curves, plus curves always leave me feeling that it's not good enough as we can't make perfectly circular curves which follow the rules of spirals. So please, any help would be very welcome at this point. Spiral , snail shell, overlapping curved plates, not going to a find point in the centre, following more exact curves than twiddling around with curves tool.
