  1. Noticed this today. From a games point of view you tend to make a LOT of overlapping uvs (for example spikes on armour, mirrored limbs, windows in a house or tileable brickwork). In modo I can pack with a 'keep stacked' option. Means I end up doing almost all my core UVing in modo and only texturing in 3dcoat. Which is a shame as the repacking options which retain texture information in 3dcoat are amazing.
  2. Asked this elsewhere so asking in the main forums.... Recently the upgrade to 4.1 has utterly broken painting for me. Any brushstroke with the airbrush tool doesn't display until I turn the layer on and off. Anyone have this problem besides me? Happens on both my work and home mac using mavericks.
  3. Minor question - but I've owned 3dcoat for a bit and am using it at work on a PC. I've picked up a mac for home work and, for the life of me, can't recall if I bought the catch all floating license or just the pc one. I 'think' I did and downloaded the version for my Mac this morning but it's coming up as a demo version on the title bar. Is there an obvious route to check this? Checking the website 'buy' option simply takes me to the download page....
  4. Weirdly - on the standard head It works on every other stroke. The first stroke I place on the mesh is smooth. The second jagged and horrible. Third fine. Fourth awful. At any point clicking off the model and moving it resets this. Very odd!
  5. Starts immediately. I've tried a full reboot of the system and running without any other programs on so I'm assuming it's not a memory leak.
  6. Brilliant! Hope the fix works for us here! In answer to the above: Seems to be a performance issue. The faces aren't particularly large no. The models I'm using are NDA games models - usually faces that have a reasonably even spread of polys across them - something like 1k to 2k for the features so we're not talking about gigantic polygons here. Using 8800 gtx cards and 8 gigs of ram on a 64 bit machine running (sadly) vista. And lastly - the painting occasionally speeds up on my colleagues machines - but on mine it's almost always very laggy. Drawing a circle usually has a slight delay and looks like I've tried to do it with the line tool, or comes out as a collection of stops and starts. Thanks so much for looking into this though - huge help!
  7. Will do - and it's not an isolated problem at my company (Lionhead - a branch of Microsoft games). We've got three artists here using it and all of us are finding the brush tools almost unusable for anything bar marking the placement of lines then importing into PS). I'm on the latest Nvidia drivers while my collegues are on early ones. I've yet to try rolling back to 3.1 but will give that a shot next as it's driving me crazy.
  8. Cheers - but don't think it's that. A colleague of mine has tested it with an identical graphics card and settings on the same model and gotten a smooth result. While mine is consistantly stuttering and jerky. A circle will appear with definite angular points in it rather than a curve.
  9. Well... I could but all you'd see is a few lines on a game model The problem is the lag per brush stroke. It'll draw - but pauses between each stroke and locks up for a second
  10. Over the past week or so my brushes have become more and more jerky and laggy - to the point they're virtually unusable. I've tried updating graphics drivers, installing the latest copy of 3dcoat - and the problem has remained. Anyone encountered this? It's driving me crazy
  11. I've had a lot of problems using the project mode on pixel painting. Works great but leaves horrible smears around the edges. In zbrush I can turn on a fade when re-importing... am I being dense and missing this feature in a menu somewhere? It's one of those features that's preventing me using the mode.
