  1. Hi all, Recently installed the latest V4.8.18 update & so removed the previous V4.5 that was installed. Once again a new folder gets created for V4.8 within my Documents folder (happy with this location) Unfortunately my Doc's folder now has multiple 3DC folders from past versions & each with an "Exchange" file containing nothing... ...my problem is that after deleting these old 3DC folders, each automatically reinstalls itself the very next time 3DC is launched. Can anyone please advise how I can stop these old folders (even V3 version) from constantly repopulating my Doc's folder? Or is my only option to totally clear everything 3DC related from my computer & start a completely fresh install?? regards Colin
  2. Hi iLegacy, That's a great looking model, Well done!! With regards to it's coloring...your model appears to be similar looking to a "Hawksbill Turtle"..? Here's a link that may help: http://www.arkive.or...elys-imbricata/ http://www.arkive.org/hawksbill-turtle/eretmochelys-imbricata/image-G133791.html regards Colin
  3. Hi Phil, That could well be...but I'd still report it...otherwise how else would any programs creator know there's a possible problem... ...I'm sure Andrew would want to know given those same circumstances! regards Colin
  4. Hi Paul, As a Jeweller, I'm typically using STL files for Export from MoI for use on my small CNC mill. So I've always just used the STL files to bring into 3DC via the Voxel Room. I'd also like to know if this is a possibility? MoI can Export it's NURBS curves as AI-EPS files for use in other 2D programs, so it'd be nice to also use them in 3DC too. Yes you can, just make sure you've first raised the Resolution in the Voxel Room prior to Import. I'll typically use 2x Resolution prior to the Import/Merge, but sometimes it may need more. They do work reasonably well together, but obviously there'll be limitations. Unlike Rhino, MoI is for NURBS only, so it can only Export polygon meshes, it can't read them back in. Once I have the STL from MoI into 3DC, I'll then Export it out from 3DC as an STL for milling. For viewing that newly created 3DC-STL file, I'll typically use Rhino. HTH, Colin
  5. Hi Phil, As a long time MoI user (Beta-pre V1), I'm really very surprised to hear the program was crashing on you... Have you reported this to Michael Gibson on the MoI Forum so that he can at least find the possible source of your crashes? http://moi3d.com/forum/ or just send an email directly to Michael as I'm sure he'd wish to know about the problem. moi@moi3d.com regards Colin
  6. Hi Blacktop, I'm just wondering if you're trying to open that 3b file by just clicking on it?... Personally I've never had a 3b file open in that way & have anything within it...I've always had to open 3D-Coat & then navigate to the required 3b file to view what's in it. Maybe your in the same situation & that your actual file is still all OK? HTH, Colin
  7. Hi michalis, Here's some links that should help: http://www.shapeways.com/ http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/ http://www.shapeways.com/tutorials/3dprintingminimumwallthicknesstutorial HTH, Colin
  8. Hi patternmaker, I'm using Rhino & MoI in conjunction with 3DC for jewellery work, so my approach is a little different to yours. From either Rhino or MoI, I'll Export the needed model out as an STL file for use with 3DC. In Voxel Room create a Layer & typically I'll start out by increasing the resolution 2X for this Layer (click the "Res+" button). Right click the Layer & select: Import > Merge object Using the Merge Tool Options, select; Scale & I use 10 > click the Apply button Next click on Grow or Smooth to complete everything. Doing it this way I've had no real issues, especially with the placement of parts coming in from MoI or Rhino. Although in my case there's usually only 2 or 3 parts at most. HTH, Colin
  9. Hi Jarvis, This video looks great, Well done!! Looking forward to getting this & hopefully I can use that same basic info for my jewellery designing. regards Colin
  10. Hi a3dcreator, Just wondering which version of 3D-Coat you're using? Are you using the latest Beta version?? regards Colin
  11. Just a follow up on this, 3D-Coat was very favorably promoted. For those that are interested, the Webinar is now available from this T-Splines link . regards Colin
  12. Hi Leigh, Thank you for that timely bit of info! I'd recently been considering whether or not to purchase your videos through them, glad I didn't..! Will now wait until you've released your new set. regards Colin
  13. Hi Everyone, Saw this posted by one of the Members of a Jewellery Forum that I Moderate on. Thought it might be of some interest to other 3D-Coat users. http://www.tsplines.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=31208 Also it appears that T-Splines save all their Webinars for later viewing, so I'm assuming this one would be the same. http://www.tsplines.com/community/webinars.html regards Colin
  14. Hi Phil, Thanks for sharing this with all of us. regards Colin
  15. OK, hopefully this question wont seem too "off topic". As someone who only uses the NURBS based CAD programs MoI & Rhino, I'd like to know if there's any way to get their Curves into 3DC? I'm talking about using straight forward 2D type curves, nothing overly complicated. MoI will allow me to Export any NURBS Curves out as EPS-AI file...so it'd be really nice to be able to Import or utilise them in some way with 3DC. Even if this was just to create flat sections or remove that particular shape from a voxel mass much like a "cookie cutter" with dough. Rhino does have many more Export & Save options, but I'm not as clued in or up to speed with using it as I am with MoI. regards Colin
  16. That looks to be a statuette of Elmer Fudd from "What's Opera, Doc?" If you're looking for more reference images then there's what I got from a doing a Google search: http://www.google.com.au/images?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=mrd&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&q=What%27s+Opera,+Doc%3F&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&sa=X&ei=oy1wTeK6BZDovQOTzOm9AQ&ved=0CF8QsAQ&biw=1440&bih=629 HTH, Colin
  17. This advice assumes you have the Status Bar displaying within your Browser. Move your mouse over whichever specific Beta download you're after, then look at the lower left of your Browser. In my case, Firefox shows the download file name. This is what I use to establish if the latest Beta has already been uploaded & available. HTH, Colin
  18. That US eBay link for the Space Pilot works here within Australia too... @Bob, ...could there possibly be some form of a "location setting" within your Browser or Anti Virus that's stopping you going there? regards Colin
  19. Hi Phil, FWIW, ClayTools is the "cheaper & lesser optioned" version of FreeForm, both are made by SensAble. Last time that I priced them, ClayTools was about $6.5K US, FreeForm was closer to $30K US... ...added to that are your "yearly maintenance" fees. Those costs are a large part of why I decided to go with 3D-Coat for the sculpting side of my jewellery designs. The other reason was that NURBS data was to be added as an Import option, this alone sold me on 3DC, as I'm using both MoI & Rhino. Obviously the main usage & sales of 3D-Coat are to those making parts, elements for 3D Games. So I gather from what I've read on the Forum here, that the majority of 3DC users don't need or really use NURBS for any of their work. At this point I'll patiently wait & hope to see it implemented in the not too distant future. regards Colin
  20. And with their name being "providesaccess", you'd have to wonder if they'd be a possible spammer?
  21. Hi ghib, I think you'll find that the OP added another thread to this same section. http://www.3d-coat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=7269&view=findpost&p=55316 HTH, Colin
  22. Hi Greg, I'd also like to add my Thanks for all your efforts with these Tutorials, they've been a great help. Looking forward to seeing more. regards Colin
  23. Hi Eric, Terrific job on the Jedidiah Tutorials, Well done!! regards Colin
