  1. Just did a stealth update to 1.8d, if the current version was still giving anyone problems, download and try it again.
  2. Update: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4210886/3ds%20Max%20Applink%20v1.8d.mzp Changes: -Added ability to select alternative Exchange (temp files) directories via "Other..." at bottom of drop down list (just like for exe files). -Added a ton of error checking for those that have 3D-Coat on a drive other then "C:/". -Corona material presets have had their gloss output inverted.
  3. Ah, thats just the ini generated by the applink itself. I thought there was an ini that 3D-Coat made?
  4. C_Man: Could you tell me where this ini file is that points to the exchange directory? Someone mentioned it before, and I looked for it on my pc, but couldn't find it, and thus couldn't implement it.
  5. It looks like it's failing to write one of the basic files. Two possibilities: 1. Windows permissions are interfering with files being written to your users directory. 2. Max is having problems with the file path itself (maybe due to the "ø" in your user name).
  6. Is it possible to interact with 3D-Coats brush system atp? Like performing a raycast to get the underlying geometry and run commands on it?
  7. Yea. Both Photoshop and 3D-Coat have sharpen brushes, was hoping Paint Storm did too.
  8. Yep, the paint smoothing in 3DCOat is essentially useless for texture resolutions past about 1024x1024 (and even at that res its not very useful). Here's the mantis report I made almost 2 years ago: http://3dcoat.com/mantis/view.php?id=1502
  9. Neat. I went to a human-themed one a few years ago, was quite interesting (though also a little disturbing).
  10. The next generation of Nvidia gpus is going to be shown this coming month, I'd wait before picking up a new one atp.
  11. Well, if the issue is that Andrew has decided to migrate to DX11, then upgrading to Windows 7 / 8 / 10 would solve the problem.
  12. Just fyi you can't actually use DX11 on Vista. You can install newer versions of DirectX, but the OS will limit them to DX10 mode automatically. Afaik though 3D-Coat uses with DirectX9 ?
  13. Seems they're using a variation called GDDR5X, that's apparently faster then regular GDDR5. Still not as fast as HBM, but at least its better then what they've been using until now.
  14. AbnRanger: Both "normal.jpg" and "nmap.jpg" will work as of version 1.8c Also, here's a pack of dummy textures to save time for anyone who wants to make their own presets: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4210886/dummyMaps.zip
  15. Update: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4210886/3ds%20Max%20Applink%20v1.8c.mzp Changes: -Fixed issue with "Export To" directories not being properly created (bug affected v1.8+ ). -Fixed special right-click Export mode (export without auto-importing into 3DC feature) -Fixed a bug that happened if users tried to import a mesh with a preset enabled without exporting any maps from 3D-Coat. -Fixed some minor UI issues (radio buttons not showing what was selected by default). -Fixed bug where auto-import would activate when switching different Temp directories.
  16. Just tried out Paint Storm yesterday for the first time. A few questions for those with some experience using it: -Is there a sharpen brush hidden somewhere? -How do you change the canvas background color (for transparent pixels)? I don't want to have to fill it every time I send an image from 3D-Coats projection paint feature. -Is there a way to move between layer blend modes quickly like in Photoshop (up/down arrow)?
  17. I honestly thought the Trello board was abandoned atp...
  18. Looks like the article is just using an old stock image since there are no pics of the new generation of cards. It's too bad if the cards really do end up using GDDR5 again instead of HBM2, considering how much the next generation of gpus has been hyped up.
  19. Max is trailing behind in quite a few areas atp. Hopefully Max2017 is a good release that covers some of the more obvious shortcomings, I imagine they'll be showing it very soon.
  20. I'm going to assume you mean Corona (since Collada / .dae files aren't supported by the applink at all). For it to work you must have the Corona Max plugin installed (and preferably enabled), as well as have the "Import Materials" checkbox enabled in Maxs OBJ importer.
  21. A few suggestions: -Ability to manually drag-drop brushes into different positions in the various Alpha folders (right now it automatically sorts them in ABC order). -Alpha folders should NOT require copies of the default round brushes in them. It crowds them up for no reasons. -Ability to select multiple brushes at once for deletion or being moved to a different alpha folder.
  22. You can grab it here: http://3dcoat.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8887
  23. Small update: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4210886/3ds%20Max%20Applink%20v1.8b.mzp changes: -Added right click options menu for "Import Only Materials", which lets users choose if they want to add imported materials to Material Editor, Objects, or both. (default is both). -Fixed a bug that could cause "Import Only Materials" to fail outright. --- So, anything else you guys want added? atp I don't have any plans for improvements/features/options past this release. I can hardly believe how much of my free time over the last few months has been spent on this, wish I'd gotten in on the ground floor when Andrew was paying people for this sort of work (actually I think he was giving some applink authors free 3DC licenses too, heard that somewhere... )
  24. OBJ format does not natively support more then one UV set per-mesh, but can have multiple material per-mesh...I guess it was implemented in such a way due to that limitation? I do think it would be nice if there was a right click option on layer groups to export just the groups maps though.
  25. Another update (mostly bug fixes this time): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4210886/3ds%20Max%20Applink%20v1.8a.mzp Changes: -Various improvements to "Import Only Materials" feature; --Multi-Sub materials now supported. --Materials import into material editor even if there are no meshs in scene to assign them to. --Material names are now correct. --Optimized for faster importing. -Added right click options menu on Import button, which lets user choose between two methods of importing; 1. Default - Only allow one import per-3DC export. 2. Debug - Allows user to import the same file repeatedly (via the "Import" button). Note; Second method can cause 3DC export to fail if used together with "Auto Import" (due to a bug in 3DC, not the applink), especially with larger files. Should only be used for testing purposes. -All name-sensitive function now support spaces and dashes (ie. "my mesh name" and "my-mesh-name" will both work now). -Fixed bug with directX materials which could cause non-Multi/Sub materials to fail on import. -Will now automatically apply materials to meshs that don't have one when being exported to paint room.
