  2. is it correct that the first 6 alphas (in default) have NO right click, edit function?
  3. So key combo for tool settings adjustment = nothing is "red for depth"... "Shift is Green for smoothing" and Ctrl is "Blue for ??? Falloff????" Currently blue is duplicating as "Depth"
  4. Be sure to look from the other side to confirm they are holes and not flipped normal!
  5. 4.7.29.... I like the "find sun".... seemed to help a bit...
  6. After doing some back and forth with settings, preview, render start and stop, 3dcoat exe seems to be hanging on to memory.... climbs and climbs... Got to tie some purging onto the cancels and various starts and stops....

  8. I'm kindof digging that I just found out 3dcoat is tying into RenderMan!!! Can anybody point me to a discussion about this on the forum where I can ask fundamental questions? (Like 3dcoat passing the environment map over as a background and how to set this up with the "gradients" or images, etc....) I missed it where is was brought up.
  9. Hey Chipp, Try "Keep UV's" for UV Mapping Type. I think what you are seeing is a function of a Hierarchy that kicks in with NURBS that keeps a "Parent Child" relationship, and the auto mapper is not traversing it well. You can see this if you fillet your cubes "individually" and pay attention to which you do first and last, then correlate it to the "single color" that you are getting on the import. (It should even manifest itself with the "pick order" when you fillet all 3 cubes at once! You could probably get a more accurate discussion from Michael, though....
  10. Hi Carlosan, It seems that "Enable Tapering" was checked for my grow tool! (The default spline tapering shape was at default. didn't need default setting) Thanks, I didn't know where to look. (That setting must have come from the install. I didn't change that....) I do have a pen Wacom, and like the pen pressure to work, but I use it rarely. It was my understanding that using the mouse produced no pressure sensitive output, and just switching and using my pen "DID" give me the pressure sensitive results! Please advise if that IS the case or if I need to set it up differently. Thanks again, as always, Burr
  11. Did the "grow" tool in voxel sculpting room change its behavior? It seems to "fade away" now. So (with a mouse) a single click get just a short bit of "Grow" then must release and click again... Different behavior from what little I know about it. As far as I know, I didn't change anything.
  12. Thanks Javis. I do see it. I must have had unlucky timing and managed into it before the re-upload happened as my original one was X-less... Anyway, all's good for me now.
  13. The X version still shows the bad icons for me.... Also, the installer splash screen still says 4.5 version....
  14. Thanks Carlosan, I had seen Andrews last post, but I downloaded from google drive link (Its much faster for me) Downloading the "X" version from 3dcoat link now.
  15. Some of the preview icons of the new shaders have errors that "appear" like "reversed normal" look. Not all. Just some.

  17. Hey Greg. Your videos were some of the first i reviewed! Thanks brother.... Although i dont have an issue navigating the ui, i am fairly competent in several areas. Alot of users who may be finding 3d coat, can be older machinists (among others) that are less than familiar with "this new stuff"... I might steer a guy more towards "sculpturis" for a foot wetting. But really, 3dcoat is an awsome tool for their applications. But with no confidence that an old codger could make any sense of whats presented, it becomes a road block of sorts...
  18. Well, there's 15 choices in the first toolset in voxel mode... there's 16 in the next "adjust" set.... (already over 30 things and haven't got to "how to make a sphere" yet) You are assuming that the new user "knows what a voxel is"..... I wasn't really talking about UI and entire UX engineering.... Just a simple menu toggle that would hide all except maybe 4 things.. A BEGINNERS look... "sculpt-move-primitives-cut.... Anyway....
  19. But everybody that tries to reproduce demi moore and Patrick Swayze in ghost at the local clay shop realizes their piece as a lump of clay on a spinning wheel. At some point, they realize they need more than a spatula to make something out of clay! lol But on the other side of the coin, since the UI is customizable, maybe there could be made a "minimalist" UI that can be turned on. So a newb can start in "beginner mode" and make his first lump on a spinning wheel, then turn on the regular UI when he gets going....
  20. So is the intensity value for the extra lights supposed to be more of a 0 -1 value? I mean, anything much over 2 or 3 becomes a huge washout. Values of a fraction of 1 seem more usable.... Thanks....
