  1. 3D coats autotopo works incredibly well for organic models, but it seems like a tool to attempt similar only for hard surfaces would be invaluable. Basically it would try to find flat surfaces and make beveled edges between them. Or not even beveled edges for starters, it just tried to find flat sections so you got a blocky simple model with edges that were crisp. Then you could export bevel in maya. The new cut tools makes it easy to create crazy good hard surface models. And something like this would be extremely useful to get those models back to something like maya for tweaking. Thanks for listening! -Ethan
  2. I started over with a new model and retopo seems to be working now so I think it may have just been some odity with that particular model.
  3. Hi there, I've just been getting started with 3D coat. For some reason polygons created in retopo are not "filled in" I can only see the yellow edges. I can see that i'm creating faces but they disappear as soon as they aren't selected. It seems like there should be a setting somewhere but i'm not seeing one. Is it possibly some display driver issue or am I missing something? Thanks for any assistance! -Ethan
  4. That does clear it up a bit more for me thank you Timmy, the thing that seems odd though is when it's first automatically mapped, the UV"s fill the whole UV space, and the checker texture looks good on the model. But then say I want to rotate some of them and re-lay them out so that they don't overlap. Then Packing seems to shrinks the whole square down. I kinda just wanted to scale the whole block of islands so that they filled the entire UV space. As it is the UV block covers less then a quarter of the space. Technically I could scale the block up in Maya, but it seems like it should be filling the space in 3d Coat?
  5. Thank you! That's it, oddly I searched the manual for the term layout but wasn't able to find this. Terminology I guess. The next issue i'm having is the group of UV's shrinks way down for some reason. Autoscale doesn't seem to fix this. Anyone know why this might be?
  6. I'm just getting started with 3D coat. and I was wondering if there is a way to press a button to have it rearrange the UV's so that they aren't overlapping? Thanks, -Ethan
