  1. The only way to rotate an imported paint model seems to be in the tweak room, but there is no option to quantize the angle to say 90 degrees. Not only that, but I'm also hearing that the Tweak room will be deprecated soon. Am I missing something? To be able to accurately transform an imported model is a basic feature isn't it? Not only that but 'select object' does nothing unless I click Select All and then even when everything is selected only the gizmo moves/rotates regardless if I have move only gizmo ticked or not. ?!?!?
  2. I feel that building base meshes with 3dcoat using the low poly modelling tools is completely broken so I decided to build my base mesh elsewhere and import it, but when I import it I get this... How do I solve it? 2021.61 Thanks

  4. Well.. I had another go at the low poly tools after watching Gorbatovsky's video but sadly I still cant use it. -After seeing that I could double click to commit an extrude I had some hope but double clicking in most extrude tools just selects ALL the faces, then there is no shortcut button to unselect all faces. I am forced to go through a series of menu to do this simple task. -Clicking faces in smart extrude just adds weird hemispheres to each face. I have no idea what is going on or why this should happen? I noticed after scrolling down the long tool menu that the 'add clusters' tool was also accidentally selected at the same time as the select tool AND extrude tool...so I can have 3 tools selected at the same time? Why on earth would I want that and if so why would that not be made much clearer?? After being a long time user of 3dCoat my hopes for this new version have been dashed. I was really looking forward to this since about this time last year and after a year of waiting it's still completely unusable for me. I've been trying and trying for months to get on with it but It just seems REALLY user un-friendly (the low poly modelling at least). For now sadly, I think I'll have to give up on 3dCoat for building meshes, as even with constant updates, the core issues I'm having never get fixed and for me at least these are fundamental in the initial creation of a base mesh. Without these issues resolved I have no confidence in the program for more complicated tasks further down the line. Hopefully the usability issues will get resolved one day, but for now I'm just tired of spending a couple of hours every week just opening the program, finding bugs, reporting bugs, feeling disappointed and never actually producing any art with it for myself. coat_extrBugs.mp4
  5. I still can't understand the extrude tools in the low poly room. They are just not intuitive at all. For that matter, the whole low poly experience is extremely crude and infuriating. Maybe I'm using it all wrong but the reason I upgraded was because I thought this would be a rapid way to create hard surface models. Currently its practically impossible and I just wonder if anyone else is using this room with any success? Is it just me that finds it impossible to use? Some issues... -I can only select an extrude tool if I choose one from the sub menu, not if I select the parent menu button. -The extrude tools dont highlight when selected. Why not? Is this a tool that can only be used in conjunction with another tool. This should be made much clear as its just confusing as it is now. -If I select Smart extrude, select a face a left click drag the face just gets moved. There seem to be no way to actual extrude a face with this tool. -If I select Normal extrude, select a face a left click drag the face just gets moved. There seem to be no way to actual extrude a face with this tool. -With either of those tools if i click off 3d coat into my second monitor and then click back into 3d coat the face is immediately moved to a far off arbitrary point in space. -I cant seem to select multuiple faces easily. Do I really have to select the select tool to do this? There are so many steps to perform actions that should be done with the mouse buttons. If I need the select to to be able to actually use these tools, why isnt it just selected automatically or already have that functionality? _ I really have to hit 'enter' EVERY time I want to commit an extrude? Why isn't it automatic and why enter? That involves me moving my hand waaay across the keyboard every time I want to extrude a single face. This should be automatic but If I DONT want to commit an extrusion I should just hold shift or something. -If not the above, commit extrusion should always be done automatically if a select new faces or deselect the faces. -After manipulating a face there is no quick way to deselect the face and select another face. Shouldn't I just be able to click outside of the model to deselect it? I cant click any other face to either add to the selection OR replace the selected face. -The only way to deselect faces (and therefore be able to select other faces) seems to be to go the popup menu and hit deselect all. This is VERY un-intuitive. -Has this even been tested? Is there a video of someone using the low poly room efficiently? Maybe that would help. Have you tried the low poly modelling in other programs like Rocket 3D, Cinema 4d for example? Just copy them ..and I have no idea how to get my low poly mesh into the sculpt room at a decent resolution to start sculpting on. So many buttons, so little help.
  6. There is no modelling room category in your mantis bug tracker that I can see. I already reported a ton of bugs with the modelling room previously but cant find them on mantis.

  8. Yeah I realize this, but it would be great if I could make a folder for a project and then make a subfolder for each of the models within that projects. Otherwise I just have like 200 different folders of mixtures of projects different projects and models. Its not very organized to say the least. And while Im on the subject, why doesn't double clicking a smart material open the Smart Material editor. The current click>dropdown>click is very clunky.
  9. I was kind of hoping for Smart Material sub folders. Is that on the horizon? Normally I make a folder of materials for each object I make and so you can see that the list of folders becomes huge pretty quickly. Maybe there is already a way to do this that I dont realise?
  10. Would it ever be possible to add actual transform positioning of lights in the render room rather than having to guess from light height and light angle? Thanks
  11. I create some blobs using the blob tool and I'm left with with large white lines that wont ever go away. I tried tried switching tools and switching rooms but the lines are always present. The lines around the created blob wont go either. Version B47
  12. I'm talking about the extrude face tools. This brief video should highlight some of the issues. In The video I just try to extrude a few faces on a cube using the tools but pretty soon it turn disastrous and I dont think I'm dont much wrong... Some of the problems I can instantly see in this short 90 second video and some other ones I found before.. The tool switches to the rotate surface tool The tool gizmo axis does not update with the face selection Some tools move faces rather than extrude them Faces are unselectable in the smart extrude A second mesh seems to get created when I use smart extrude?!? Deselecting doesn't always work when clicking off/away from the model If I have all faces selected while I have the free move selected and click off screen (my other monitor) the objects moves to a random position in space sometimes VERY far from the original position. Maybe its me that's doing something wrong, but I don't see any tutorials about this anywhere and I would have thought it should be fairly intuitive to use. Here is a video of me doing the same in Cinema4D. Its so simple. I don't need to hit enter each time to commit an extrude. I just let go of the mouse. Note that also in C4D I can also move,scale or rotate the face/s at anytime using the gizmo that's always there. If I were you, I'd just rip off this workflow as is. Its perfect.:)
  13. Yes, thanks. I know that hitting enter commits the extrude but after you extrude once and select other faces the gizmo remains in the same place as the old extrude. The other problems I mention still exist. Also, hitting enter is a very cumbersome way to commit the extrude (it's the opposite side of the keyboard to where most hands are resting (on the left side)) and would be far quicker to do something like double click/right click (Ideally something that doesn't require a keyboard shortcut) or have an icon on the gizmo that commits the extrude. Actually having said that I think the commit should just happen automatically and maybe holding shift or something takes you temporarily to the transform tool so you can tweak the position after if you need to...otherwise just dragging again creates another extrude. Obviously this is a design decision but I've tried using the tool as it is many times to create simple extruded shapes, but it really feels very clunky (unusable in fact) for what should be a rapid building experience.
  14. Any idea when the face extrusion tools will be fixed in the modelling room? I'm seeing some of the amazing demo videos of 2021 on YouTube but I cant understand how the author has created such models with this tool completely broken.   17. I have my low poly mesh with a displacement map which looks nice and bumpy in 3d coat, but I want to get this into a game engine that does not support displacement maps. So, I guess that I need to convert the displacement data into a new sculpt mesh that I can retopo; how can I do this? Or maybe there is another way. Any ideas? Thanks
  18. In B42.. Extrude faces still just seems to move the face and nothing more. Normal Extrude works but the process is very cumbersome. Each time I want to extrude a new face a need to deselect all faces (double clicking outside the mesh to deselect all does not work with two monitors unless you first click on the second monitor), select a new face, select the extrude tool AGAIN and then drag it out.
  19. -Crashes when I open the 3dConnexion software to configure buttons. -Multiple issue when trying to use extrude in modelling room. Sometimes extruding faces works, sometimes its just moves the face, the tool always reverts to the select tool ...the spine tool seems to do this too.. -SOmetimes clicking of an object deselects all faces but sometimes this does not work.(I have to click in a different monitor and then click back into 3d COat for this to work)

  21. SOLVED. The issue was because I (or one of my children) had inadvertently switched off my 3dConnexion Space Navigator. For some reason this was messing things up. To fix the issue, I simply switched it back on, then restarted 3dCoat. Buttery smooth again with both the navigator AND the mouse.
  22. My camera rotation (alt) has started to become unusably slow. It never used to be this way. I've tried updating graphics drivers, restarting etc but still the same issue. Any ideas? I cant use it as it is and it used to work fine. There's nothing new on my system that I am aware of. Cheers
